As always, Writers Market, including the 2010 version, is an invaluable tool for freelance writers, both beginning and experienced. What more can I say than that? For the beginner, it provides examples of winning query letters. For the more advanced, it takes one from beginning to end in how to set up a book proposal, with its initial 1-page query letter. More importantly, it provides all writers with the names, editors, addresses and phone numbers/e-mail addresses of prospective publications. The on-line tool helps keep those markets up to date. This is an awesome product! I'm always pleased with my purchases of the yearly issue of the Writer's Market, but the added benefit of one year's subscription to Writer's Market Online is a special bonus. Having the updates provided on the website is extremely convenient and the book is a nice reference tool.

I recommend the purchase of the 2010 Writer's Market Deluxe (Writer's Market Online) to all writers serious about submitting their work in hopes of publication. There are invaluable tips and instructions in the book, as well as on the website, that all writers will find useful and informative!

This is a standard book that I purchase faithfully each year. This is a reference book that all serious writers need on the shelf! I've found that not all publishers are listed yet the contact info in this book is highly valued. It is a MUST have! It lists, publishers, (including Canada & Internat'l) consumer & trade journals and writer's contests contact information.

What a mess! Just received the 2010 Deluxe Edition and I am appalled at how many errors there are in the Indexes. Multiple errors in the Travel Section. Listings that doesn't exist, wrong pages, etc.

You (as a group) constantly remind us many time how important it is to be be professional, yet your book has so many mistakes in it, it's a chore to work through them. I paid a lot of money for this book and have used your publication over the years with much more confidence.

And I didn't even try to find errors. They are just all over the place. What is wrong with you people?

For a professional publication this unacceptable.

Please put more effort into proofing your copy before going to print.

For example, on page 1166 of the General index, it lists Travel Tips on page 962. Really? Please tell me where.

On page 1138 Robert D. Reed Publishers on page 265. Where?

Also on page 1138, Rocky Mountain Books, page 283. It's really on page 284.

And those are only a few that I ran into.

You should be ashamed.

One would expect a book titled "Writer's Market" would be a shining example of the art of writing. Unfortunately, this edition must have skipped final editing. Within the first 20 pages I found multiple errors on each page. These include misspelled words, grammatical errors, and some errors so egregious they disrupt the flow of the writing. I am shocked that a publication that has been around so long, and enjoyed such success, and is so important, has put out an edition of such poor quality. I hope that Writer's Digest Books makes a serious effort in the next edition to correct this oversight. The information is essential, the quality is abysmal. 4 stars for the content. 1 star for quality.

This works well for me because it not only gives agents and publishers, but screen writer etc. contacts. If you are only looking for agents and pubs you don't need this.

My son requested this book as a Christmas gift. He is studying journalism . This book lists the people to contact to submit your writing for publishing.He was thrilled with the book. It was less than 1/2 the price of any of the book stores in our area and what could be better than having someone drop it off at your front door. Thanks Amazon!

This is a book recommended by my fiction writing instructor. Very helpful in regard to finding agents, writing query letters and getting a sense of the market.

I bought this book to get me some guidelines and advice on submitting my writings. It is a huge book full of helpful hints and points you in the right direction for publication. any would be writer needs this as their comapanion.

I love writers, but the book isn't for an experienced writer. You want to search on keywords, bookmark, copy-paste, and do that sort of thing that a premium membership allows. And you get that included with the book - and it's basically the same price - so free book. No wonder there are so many used copies.

Want a good laugh? (Black writer humor) - my local (SANTA MARIA CALIFORNIA - "ALL AMERICA" CITY) library is brand new - cost $33 million dollars - they have 3 copies - 2008 is the newest - and you have to leave your driver's license to see one. I know what you're thinking - donate my copy. I would. But I no longer have a library card. Because I refused to pay the fee for a book that got slightly wavy pages that I offered to replace - I can buy all I want on amazon brand new $.99 cents. Nope - $40 I have to pay to keep my card.

Can you say OBSOLETE? Can you say - typical bureaucratic benefit to cost ratio is 3.3%? I'm just saying.
