Overall this was an enjoyable and well-written collection of diverse takes on the alleged end of civilization scheduled for 12/21/12. There were 2 stories in this collection that I did not find at all interesting or entertaining, but the others more than made up for them. Each story presents its author's imagined possible scenario for that day, and some of them are really quite brilliant. Initially I was a bit disappointed, because I didn't read the synopsis carefully enough to realize it was an anthology, so I was expecting a full-blown novel. However, after getting to roughly the third story, I realized I was enjoying the book. A few of these shorts provide good starting points for the authors to develop into novels, and I hope one or two of them do... or three or four of them! All things considered, this is a book I have no problem recommending to others. If you are a fan of the whole "Mayan Apocalpyse" sub-genre, by all means add this to your to-be-read list. But do it before December 21, or you may not get a chance!
