This review is from: 2012: Biography of a Time Traveler: The Journey of Jose Arguelles (Paperback)
At last, a glimpse behind the scenes, of the man who was Joe Arguelles.
I have to start by saying that I have been plugged into the Zuvuya since July 26, 1992 when I experienced a prophetic dream that took me into a 24 hour time distortion where I was living the dream in the past, present and future simultaneously. Previous to that date I had been studying "Earth Ascending" and creating strange works of art based on the I Ching and Magic 8 square correlations in the book. A week after stepping out of time, I came across a copy of "The Transformative Vision" where I read in the introduction, "Fully entrained in the galactic beam, on July 26, 1992, Earth's portals will open so that the human race can enter the new time, Earth time." It took me nearly three years to get a copy of the Dreamspell in my hands, but from that moment I started living the 13 Moon calendar, even to the point of producing my own simple version that I gave to friends and family. I am convinced, by direct experience over the last 13 years, that the Law of Time is a reality, and that Arguelle's understanding of the subject will (in time) be seen to be as important as the Theory of Relativity and the Law of Gravity. Having said that, I am more than pleased that Stephanie South has made the effort to show us the man within the legend. This is a book well worth reading, whether you are a fan of Arguelles or not. Highly recommended - buy it, read it. Then disengage from the Gregorian mind trap and re-connect with the synchronic order.

While reading Biography of a Time Traveler I was amazed of the richness of life experiences of Dr. Jose Arguelles and how his life was all leading him to his mission. In the book it says that he has a vision of the most positive outcome for the Planet. This is the vision we should all carry in our minds one of the most positive and peaceful outcome to all the chaos that we are now living. I recommend this book to everyone, and specially to those who fear 2012, they will find light and will be excited about this event!

Having read many of Jose Arguelles books over the last few years, this biography is very timely, especially as many other people are jumping on the 2012 bandwagon. It's great to understand the man who is this great visionary, to read about his own life journey, and to gain more insight as to where and how he has been putting together his life view and visionary information for us to be made aware of. Nice to read that he is indeed a mere mortal like the rest of us, and has had his own struggles to overcome..... inspiring reading.

2012: Biography of a Time Traveler is a true modern-day legend, and the best part is that it is all a true story. I found this book fascinating and very difficult to put down (while reading it twice in a row)! The story of Jose Arguelles' life presents the type of spiritual story which will touch many different people in many different ways, you can see how one person can go through just about all there is to experience on this planet and witness a new way to view life and its many lessons and wonders. A truly powerful story that also leads the reader into a deeper understanding of the meaning of 2012. One of those Biographies that everyone should read!

Stephanie South brings readers an insight into the man behind a cultural phenomena in "2012: Biography of a Time Traveler". She tells the story of Jose Arguelles who was the originator of the idea of the Mayan prophecies and the 2012 prophecy. Tracing his history and how he came to his ideas and how it has taken many people by storm, South gives readers much insight into the man. "2012: Biography of a Time Traveler" is a must for any metaphysical reader.

So if you are just itching to know some of the personal history of the unique (and controversial) Joe (aka Jose) Arguelles here you go. The author of the breakthrough The Mayan Factor: Path Beyond Technology later made quite a mess of things Mayan Calenderic by introducing his own system called 'Dreamspell'. This book gives you a slow moving account of the major events in Joe's life. Really the major lifting that Joe co-opted around the authentic Mayan Calendar was already done by Tony Shearer.
Where the book really fails is in being false advertising (or at least midleading) for tagging 2012 into the title. If you want 2012 info then stick to John Major Jenkins. If you want Mayan Calendar then include Carl Johan Calleman to round out the ideas. (Anthony Aveni and Michael D. Coe are also good even more academic sources.) But no one knows what is going to happen in 2012 if anything. And this book certainly does not give you any clearer ideas at all.

I knew very little about Jose before reading this. the book was a great read, informative on many levels. left me feeling alot closer to Jose. so many things I never would've known about that guy! he was always just some saintly / mysterious mystic type to me. a real down-to-earth(HA) guy who has gone through falls just like all of us. taught me a bit about metaphysics too.

Ordered this book thinking it is about the Mayan calendar end of times, however is is only about the author's biography, nothing to do with the title of the book. Very disappointed.
