Book Description

April 15, 2008
2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future is an engaging personal narrative through the author’s apprenticeship with master astrologer William Lonsdale who teaches him how to access a source of great power and creativity buried within the human soul.

The book begins in August 1987 on the slopes of Mount Shasta in Northern California as Borax witnesses the Harmonic Convergence, a spiritual and astrological event sparking a 26-year countdown to 2012, the year that marks the “end of history” in the Mayan calendar. Signs indicate that a “major energy shift” is occurring, a turning point in Earth’s collective karma powerful enough to change the global perspective of humankind.

Borax’s mountaintop experiences compel him to seek solutions to his personal turmoil. He meets Lonsdale and together they launch a mystery school to study how the twenty-five-year period between 1987 and 2012 can be used for a cosmic purging of negativity to release humanity’s core forces and restore universal balance. En route, Borax and his fellow students discover truths about life after death, karma, reincarnation, past lives, human evolution, and the purpose of our existence on earth. In the tradition of The Teachings of Don Juan, Carlos Castaneda’s tales of his shamanic master, 2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future is a gripping sorcerer’s apprentice story driven by mystical forces, encouraging readers to expand their everyday awareness and challenge their fundamental beliefs about their place in the universe.

Editorial Reviews

Review

“Mark Borax has given us a vision of the future that is as hopeful as it is radical. He is proposing nothing less than that we are beginning to heal the cosmic breach from which all our other problems—ecological, political, social, spiritual—originate. In order to get from here to there, we must recover our memory of our Atlantean heritage, whether Atlantic was a real geographical continent or a phase of our consciousness. We must see, lucidly and unambiguously, who we are, where we came from, why we are here, and where we are going.”
—Richard Grossinger, author of Planet Medicine and The Bardo of Waking Life

“Mark Borax’s book provides a long-overdue introduction to the work of Ellias Lonsdale, a visionary astrologer who should be as well known as Jane Roberts or Edgar Cayce.”
—Rob Brezsny, author of Pronoia Is the Antidote to Paranoia: How the Whole World Is Conspiring to Shower You with Blessings

“This writer's gift for observation allows us to sit in on those sessions at the Santa Cruz mystery school. The story is about a very curious seeker on a quest for love and wisdom that leads us into the big mysteries of the cosmos... The book offers hope, woven into a personal story, about living in this uncertain age. This remarkable book calls for us to claim our soul depths, and to be fully alive here on Earth. It's full of fascinating ideas about past lives, the lost city of Atlantis, and more....

“If you've been overwhelmed by fear and confusion, this book shines light on this dark time. I found resonance in what he said about a great purging, a speeding up of evolution, an influx of energies, [and] a growing awareness of our spirit selves..."
—Molly Hall, Astrology Guide, About.com

"Borax is simply a superb writer. Even skeptics of 2012 theory will find this book reads like a well spun novel one cannot put down. If you seek to understand what it takes to become fully alive in this physical and spiritual experience we share, Mark Borax‘s 2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future is a must read."

More About the Author

I'm Mark Borax and I created Soul Level Astrology in 1987, a method of using the astrological birth chart to identify your core nature, or soul, which is the deepest part of you.

I've also been a nomadic poet my whole life. In the late seventies I traveled the U.S. and Canada performing and selling my poetry. In the mid-eighties, I was befriended by my adolescent idol, writer Ray Bradbury, who became my literary godfather, believing in my writing even though it was taking forever.

In 1984 I became a comic book writer and the managing editor of Comics Interview magazine. In 1998 I rode my Harley Davidson Low Rider through the U.S. and Europe, stopping for a year in the Tuscan countryside of Northern Italy. My first book, published by North Atlantic Books and Random House in April, 2008 ' 2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future, describes my seven-year apprenticeship to visionary astrologer Ellias Lonsdale. Under the redwoods in northern California we created a mystery school which birthed a new form of astrology called Star Genesis, that helps people contact their core nature and life purpose. My second book, Cosmic Weather Report, published in December, 2010, presents a new future for humanity, should we take up the challenge.

4.0 out of 5 stars 2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future, May 22, 2008

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: 2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future (Paperback)
2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future is part biography, part autobiography, and wholly about spiritual journeys. It begins with the author's experience on Mount Shasta during the beginning of the Harmonic Convergence in 1987 and continues on from there. The bulk of the book contains conversations and lessons with the man who is now known as Ellias Lonsdale.

Both Lonsdale and Borax have poignant things to say as they impart their observations about themselves, each other, and our world. The conversations and sessions with Lonsdale cover a wide range of topics and the book ends up being Borax's way of spreading the word of how the universe is connected and gives us a peek at how things work. Also covered is what each of us need to do in order to fully participate and partake of the energies that will be released during the Age of Aquarius, which begins in 2012.

This book is not so much about prophecy as it is about possibility. There are no dire predictions of calamity here. There are general instructions about what we need to achieve, individually, so as to affect our people and guide everybody toward a more harmonious existence in the largest terms possible. If you're a skeptic, this will not provide any sort of proof to you. If you're a believer, there will be something in here you can take away and apply to your own life. This is very much worth the time to read and re-visit from time to time. There is so much information in here, you'll need to come back to it time and again.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not about 2012, December 15, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future (Paperback)
First of all this book has very little to do with 2012 and what is suppose to occur on December 21 2012. It is more an informational, like the kind you see on TV, selling this authors great astrological reading ability. What puzzled me in reading this is the belief that he and his mentor started the soul centered astrology movement. Not so. This concept of chart reading goes way back many years, was greatly developed in England by Liz Greene, Howard Ssportas, Richard Idemon, Stephen Arroyo and Erin Sullivan. You can even dig deeper into the past of the Theosophical Movement 100 years ago to find some of the mysteries that he claims were channled through his mentor. The book tantalizes you to think you are about to get some great secret about the universe and esoteric knowledge. Not really. To get to that level of understanding of the universe you have to study with someone that has gone there, read a lot, and be willing to let go of the illusion of this lifetime. This author almost has you convinced that he can transfer this understanding to you. Most likely what he does for his clients is just basic therapy as most people are not really seeking that much depth in their materialistic lives. I felt like half the book was devoted to his love life and the other half to his relocations. Somewhere in there I am sure he slipped in some secret from his mentor but I will be darn if I could find it. There are a whole lot better books out there that discuss the theory, predictions, and critical thinking about this time coming.

5.0 out of 5 stars superb storytelling, April 18, 2008
This review is from: 2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future (Paperback)
What makes Borax' story so compelling is its sheer readability. He has invested his personal journey with the vivid atmospherics, piquant characterizations and narrative drive of a fine novel. Borax tells a superb story--one that even a diehard skeptic like me can read with unqualified pleasure.
