2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future is part biography, part autobiography, and wholly about spiritual journeys. It begins with the author's experience on Mount Shasta during the beginning of the Harmonic Convergence in 1987 and continues on from there. The bulk of the book contains conversations and lessons with the man who is now known as Ellias Lonsdale.

Both Lonsdale and Borax have poignant things to say as they impart their observations about themselves, each other, and our world. The conversations and sessions with Lonsdale cover a wide range of topics and the book ends up being Borax's way of spreading the word of how the universe is connected and gives us a peek at how things work. Also covered is what each of us need to do in order to fully participate and partake of the energies that will be released during the Age of Aquarius, which begins in 2012.

This book is not so much about prophecy as it is about possibility. There are no dire predictions of calamity here. There are general instructions about what we need to achieve, individually, so as to affect our people and guide everybody toward a more harmonious existence in the largest terms possible. If you're a skeptic, this will not provide any sort of proof to you. If you're a believer, there will be something in here you can take away and apply to your own life. This is very much worth the time to read and re-visit from time to time. There is so much information in here, you'll need to come back to it time and again.

This review is from: 2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future (Paperback)
First of all this book has very little to do with 2012 and what is suppose to occur on December 21 2012. It is more an informational, like the kind you see on TV, selling this authors great astrological reading ability. What puzzled me in reading this is the belief that he and his mentor started the soul centered astrology movement. Not so. This concept of chart reading goes way back many years, was greatly developed in England by Liz Greene, Howard Ssportas, Richard Idemon, Stephen Arroyo and Erin Sullivan. You can even dig deeper into the past of the Theosophical Movement 100 years ago to find some of the mysteries that he claims were channled through his mentor. The book tantalizes you to think you are about to get some great secret about the universe and esoteric knowledge. Not really. To get to that level of understanding of the universe you have to study with someone that has gone there, read a lot, and be willing to let go of the illusion of this lifetime. This author almost has you convinced that he can transfer this understanding to you. Most likely what he does for his clients is just basic therapy as most people are not really seeking that much depth in their materialistic lives. I felt like half the book was devoted to his love life and the other half to his relocations. Somewhere in there I am sure he slipped in some secret from his mentor but I will be darn if I could find it. There are a whole lot better books out there that discuss the theory, predictions, and critical thinking about this time coming.

5.0 out of 5 stars superb storytelling, April 18, 2008
This review is from: 2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future (Paperback)
What makes Borax' story so compelling is its sheer readability. He has invested his personal journey with the vivid atmospherics, piquant characterizations and narrative drive of a fine novel. Borax tells a superb story--one that even a diehard skeptic like me can read with unqualified pleasure.

If you are looking for an in depth thought pattern into the meaning of the approaching ominous 2012 date, this book describes little in regard to what might happen. In that respect, I was very disappointed as I was looking for more insight as to the importance of that date. I kept reading until the end, thinking at any moment, Borax might finally get into the meat of the matter.

Instead, the book describes the relationship of Mark Borax to his mentor who is a master astrologer. Borax approaches his journey into astrology in story form that reads more like a romantic novel filled with his sexual escapades. One must really be into astrology to appreciate this book, and although I know some things about the subject, I am not fluent enough in Astrology to comprehend much of the excitement Borax feels as he gains insight into the human pysche. Therefore, I found the intensity of the quest to become the world's best astrologer to be rather lame in respect to explaining astrology's role in 2012. Maybe I missed the point somewhere between all of his in and out of love affairs. Maybe he missed the point in 1987 when he popped that LSD!

1.0 out of 5 stars It ain't the meat, it's the motion, April 25, 2009
By
This review is from: 2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future (Paperback)
I wanted to like this book because my son bought it for me as a gift, having noticed the titles of my recent book piles. Very touching, yes? Had I spent my own money, I'd have felt ripped off. Though written well enough, it has NOTHING to do with the title.

Save your money unless you want to read a 240 page fanmail to his personal astrololical guru -- and a thinly veiled 60's-like memoir of Borax's sexploits. This book is little more than a memoir of him, crossing his personal Bridges From The Past. It just so happens to have started at the time of the '87 Harmonic Convergence.

Since everyone deserves to make a living, I wasn't going to write a review of this book until I saw the author's 4/8/08 blog post on this Amazon page. [In writing this book] "I planned to do for astrology what Castaneda did for shamanism 40 years ago." Sorry, but that seems the ultimate in conceit. You not only missed the mark, Mark, you missed it by billions of light years.

If the metaphysical challenges of life leading up to 2012 interest you, read Jose Argueles, John Major Jenkins, Carl Johan Calleman, and a plethora of other books on the subject. You'll learn more about 2012, "prophecy" and the meaning of life from scientists Paul LaViolette and Nassim Haramein, also Terrance McKenna, the I Ching or the Bible.

Believe it or not, I'm really trying not to sound hostile. This is a perfect example of not buying a book by it's cover. Misleading. If Simon Cowell were writing the review, it would be, "Self indulgent rubbish".

No meat in this book. No motion either.

Wow! I devoured Mark's book in a few days. It was hard to put down! I even put off bathroom breaks due to being so absorbed with the story! Between Mark's personal story woven with the teachings of Ellias (William) Lonsdale, the book is rich with easily digestible yet profound information in a "familiar" setting. It's like being right there with Mark and Ellias and all the others. I gifted this book to my 22 year old son, hoping he might find it of interest. I was very pleased and excited to find out that he too had a hard time putting it down, and even paced himself so that he could savor the story that much longer (he tends to be a fast reader). He also expressed he would be re-reading it again very soon.

Inspired by Mark's story, I arranged and experienced a Soul Level Astrology session with him. Mark's manner is very comfortable, gentle, and enlightening. I felt nurtured and honored at a deep level, so much so that "truth tears" flowed easily from my eyes during the reading.

I hope that you find this book as riveting as I did. And be sure to tell your friends about it.

4.0 out of 5 stars 2012 Crossing the Bridge to the Future, May 10, 2008
This review is from: 2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future (Paperback)
I was very excited to pick up Mark Borax's book on 2012. Many of the books I've seen on the subject are either doom and gloom or so difficult to understand that I don't read them. This book presents an engaging story while presenting advanced concepts on the transformation of humanity in a clear and accessable way. The discussion on time and the unbinding of time was of particular interest to me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Past-life Integration and the Mystery Traditions of Santa Cruz, April 23, 2008
This review is from: 2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future (Paperback)
Spinning tales of spiritual journeys up and down the West Coast, while struggling with seemingly fleeting intimate relationships, Mark Borax encounters a deeply life affirming message taught him by a master astrologer and his equally inspiring wife. William "Ellias" and Sara "Theanna" Lonsdale conducted mystery school workshops in their home in Santa Cruz, CA through the late nineteen eighties and early nineteen nineties, at which Borax recorded and transcribed their teachings. Through the Lonsdales' inspirational message of continuation and connection, the author offers a personal tribute to the work of two inspirational teachers who remind us what it means to be human.

I've been greatly inspired by Mark's work with Star Genesis, the mystery tradition brought forth by the Lonsdales, through his Soul Level Astrology. 2012: Crossing the Bridge to the Future gives context to the previously published works of Ellias Lonsdale, which stands as a glimpse into this unique approach to reincarnation and present life integration.
