Illegally burned from a television interview, not a DVD endorsed by the authors. FREE link here!,

Apparently, this video is illegally produced. My rating is pretty irrelevant since this product is not a "real" DVD production. Even if it is legal, it not worth buying when it's just an interview. That said, Michael and Geoff rock! So watch it, then decide.
See it here: [...] I actually have watched Tsarion's Origin and Oracles DVD set and read ALL of his books, and I do not believe he promotes the end of the world, simplistic, over-repeated scenario of a destruction of the planet. Neither does Stray. The Mayans' knowledge was part of a lineage from the Olmecs. The Olmecs are so mysterious we know next to nothing about them. Their advanced knowledge of time and complex interactions of multiple calendars exhibiting a design utilizing the golden ratio demonstrates the millenia of development necessary to create such systems. This cannot be done over a couple hundred years by natives who died at 25 years of age and did't have wheels, metal or whatever. This is part of a larger system of knowledge which used to incorporate, for example, alchemy, astrology/astronomy, the cabala etc., into one system of universal knowledge. This was fragmented long, long ago and we are beginning to see that topic becoming more apparent amongst today's alternative researchers. Proof of megalithic connections is also being revealed in the countries of Egypt, Peru, Cambodia, Easter Island, Bolivia, Guatemala, Mexico, Polynesia, so on, where style, construction, materials, symbolism are all similar. See Graham Hancock's work and David Hatcher Childress's Megalithomania presentation here: [...] Rather than cut/paste a mainstream history meme from NPR or FOX or parroting your religious indoctrinator of choice, I recommend to be uncertain about everything we think we know so we may allow ourselves to readily search for truth. Certainty kills curiosity and action towards it. The only war that counts is the war against the imagination.

British talk show The Edge looks at Prophecy that the end of days will come in 2012 with astrologer and historian Michael Tsarion and specialty author and researcher Geoff Stray. Interesting, but a bit dry.

Utter Garbage,
This review is from: 2012: Is It The End of the World? (DVD)
This book is written by a totally insane person... or a crook. This stuff is beyond laughable. Criticizing this junk would be like criticizing ravings of a mad man -- totally pointless.

The answer, of course, is "no". The Maya, like all ancient people, took years and years to come up with answers that would occupy a modern computer for a couple of minutes.
The notion that the world will undergo a major calamity in 2012 comes from the fact that 2012 CE represents the end of the current Maya calendrical cycle that began in 3014 BCE. The Maya ended each of their previous (and entirely mythical) cycles with various catastrophes. Needless to say, there is no physical evidence for any of them. The world of 3013-3014 BCE was a catastrophe-free period. It was at this time that Egypt's pre-dynastic period was coming to an end and the country was being united by the great king Aha Men. Mesopotamian city-states show a completely uninterrupted existence at this time. Ditto, the Indus Valley Civilization. Ditto, predynastic China. I can't wait until 1 January 2013 CE, when I can enjoy a hearty laugh at the "disaster 2012" idiots. Anyone who is deceived by them is truly stupid. |
