Fictional tale with potentially practical applications,
By
This review is from: 2012 Hurricane: The Ultimate Storm (Paperback)
"2012 Hurricane" by Arnaldo Ricciulli is a thrilling tale of one of nature's most savage events. A massive "storm of the century" type system is brewing and mankind is powerless to stop it....or are they? Our main character seems to have an idea on how to cut this storm short, but his suggestions seem to fall on deaf ears. Will he be able to get them tuned in before it's too late? You'll want to stick around to find out...Perhaps one of the more fascinating aspects of this book (besides the action of the story) is the discussion of the project simply called "Sub-Zero". The details it reveals could have possible real life applications. I mean, I'm not a science major and I don't claim to know the inner workings of a hurricane any better than the next person, but the ideas put forth in the..make sense. The overall thought behind Daniel's plan is based on the basic structure of a storm and the fact that warm, humid air contributes to its strength, size, and "success". If one was to cool the storm from the inside out, in this case through the utilization of submarines and the release of cooling agents, you would in theory cripple if not destroy its actual framework, thus making its impact to society much less catastrophic. There is often a grain of truth behind every fictional tale. I don't know about you, but if there is even the slightest chance this would work in a real life situation, the benefits would be beyond belief. Imagine if Katrina had only hit as a Cat. 1....or if Andrew had come through as a low grade depression. Many lives would have been saved and property losses kept to a minimum....a win-win for all. A book filled with ideas and potential certainly worth considering.....author Arnaldo Ricciulli presents to readers a tale you'll be pondering long after you turn the last page.

The ultimate environmentally conscious thrill ride,
By kratzy (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 2012 Hurricane: The Ultimate Storm (Paperback)
This book is the ultimate environmentally conscious thrill ride. With the backdrop of a monster storm approaching, 2012 Hurricane: The Ultimate Storm, describes an attempt to use a novel tool "the Sub-Zero" project to ward off the storm and alleviate global warming at the same time because both are connected. Tie in a love story, a possible never before seen catastrophe and you have a story that has all the features of a true page turner. Both protagonists Daniel and Kelly come up with a plan to ward off hurricanes. While Kelly takes on an almost conservationist approach, Daniel is more technically oriented in his solution. Sub-Zero refers to the cooling of the ocean through a series of strategically placed submarines wrapped in cooling wires and powered by nuclear energy. Daniel hypothesizes that the cooling of the ocean right where the eye of the hurricane hits will slow the storm down and minimize any damage of even the strongest hurricane, such as a category 6. A category 6 hurricane is just what is potentially developing and so Daniel will get a chance to test out his model. This book is a fantastic read, I could not put it down once I got started. The storyline is fast paced and has plenty of technical details for the reader. The purpose of the book is clearly to raise awareness of global warming and the dangers that it brings, such as the potential increased number of hurricanes as has been started by some researchers. This is a great book for all science and technology enthusiasts, but has enough love story and nature thriller in it to be of appeal to the general audience.

If only you could bottle wind,
By Mary Stan (Southern Virgina) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 2012 Hurricane: The Ultimate Storm (Paperback)
If you believe in fate, than you are going to enjoy this quick paced romance revolving around Mother Nature. It starts with two main characters, Daniel and Kelly. Both are on two different missions with a category six hurricane. Daniel wants to bottle it and Kelly wants to let it have its way as it was born to do. Of course there must be a villain so a third party is involved and t-for that you will have to read the book. It is a quick read and you will enjoy how each one gets ahead of the other but not for long. The author Arnaldo Ricciulli has his own message he is putting forward and you can easily pick it up throughout the story. It is nothing that takes away from the story in Hurricane 2012. It has some great creative minds with the ideas on the submarines...it makes you wonder if it could be done. It would be a great little gift for a storm chaser.

There she blows!,
By J. Cormier (New England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 2012 Hurricane: The Ultimate Storm (Paperback)
If you had a chance to stop a piece of weather that has destruction written all over wouldn't you. Well as any experiment goes and as excited as any storm chaser can get Daniel will be able to do it all...or will he? While Daniel is figuring out a way to break up a hurricane Kelly is wrapped up in global warming and the effects if Daniel is allowed to let his theory take place. The author Arnaldo Ricciulli does a great job with the thought provoking morals of both ends of the spectrum.Who is right and who is wrong? Is there a way that both could work if they could get the higher beings to agree on a something they feel is way out there on a limb to begin with and had the potential of disaster? Daniel feels with some modifications to the existing submarines we have we can contain the impending hurricane on its way. There is also a third party to gain if they both fail...this is where the book keeps your interest. You have to keep reading to see who is getting ahead each day. You will not be disappointed with Hurricane 2012. It's a quick read and a good read.

Total devastation!,
This review is from: 2012 Hurricane: The Ultimate Storm (Paperback)
This story is based upon the destructive force of nature. I know that the subject matter is really worn out by now but this book is something different. Original storyline, intense characters and such ease to follow the story are one of the main characteristics of thisexciting book. I've read trough the whole thing in few hours but it seemed like a heartbeat to me. If you are a fan of disaster stories, this one is a must have.

Intriguing Story,
This review is from: 2012 Hurricane: The Ultimate Storm (Paperback)
I don't read many books in just one sitting, but as soon as I began reading this book I knew it was going to be a good one. There is nothing I better enjoy than a book written in such a way where I think I'm reading the latest best-selling thriller from the book-store. This was a very intriguing theme and the message this book contains is very powerful. Very well written and undeniably an instant favorite of mine that I will recommend to others, without hesitation.
