It is important to know that this book is LOOSE-LEAF, not paperback. The book doesn't even come with a binder. I have had loose-leaf before and the pages eventually all rip out. It is really a pain. Also, previous loose-leaf code books I have ordered come with an IBC binder. Disappointing!

If you're a structural engineer, you'll also need to buy the 2010 ASCE 7, 2011 ACI 318, 2011 TMS 530, 2010 ASIC 360, and possibly the new NDS as well.

Sadly, many architectural offices do not provide their employees with this book anymore. A good Architect references this guide repeatedly for every job (because codes CHANGE!). This is a must-have book for every architect.

This is for the CD version.

The CD is just a scan of the loose-leaf book. It's not searchable as it's just images. What's the point in getting something like this on a CD if the contents aren't searchable?

I'm actually wondering if this CD has been pirated. You'd think that if this was done with the organization's permission that they'd require certain specs for the electronic version to adhere to. It should be simple enough for them to convert their original files to PDF and not have to revert to printing it then scanning it.

A lot of codes for the Virginia State Uniform Building Code are referenced in this book. This book is essential because the Virgina State Code will not present the entire code requirement but only reference the code in this book. A real necessity to get all the information for construction.

Just what I needed for my professional practice.
I use it every day for my architectural work and
to inform my clients about staying within the codes.
It helps us keep everyone out of trouble.
Thank you very much.

The first item for any Professional Estimator is to look through the plans and specifications and keep a calculator handy. Too many times I've seen fire rated assemblies not detailed on drawing. Many plan review offices will catch these, but this is after bid day and then the change orders are tough to obtain in some cases. If the errors or lack of design is caught before bid day, then the Designer can issue addenda to clarify the items.
