A Surprise and Delight, July 16, 2009
This review is from: 2012 Questions: An Apocalyptic Inquiry (Paperback)
2012 was recommended to me and I have to admit, at first I could not understand why. I am not interested in the apocalypse or myths surrounding the year 2012, so why would a friend recommend this?
First of all the 2012 Questions in the title is literally true. There are 2,012 questions in this book, all derived from Bob Dylan's lyrics. I am a Dylan fan. That is the first connection. I am also a practicing Buddhist and I came to understand what the author was referring to in the prologue. You must watch and see what reactions you have as you read along.
That's another great thing about this book: it's not a novel or a treatise. You can pick it up at any point and go from there. Despite it's heavy sounding title, this book is fun. My partner and I challenge each other with questions and sometimes do a Jeopardy reversal and try to formulate the question based on the answers in the back.
I now know why this book was recommended to me: it's challenging and fun and unconventional. A lot like me! I recommend this book to every baby-boomer who feels the same way.
