5.0 out of 5 stars "End of the World" Yeah Right
I can remember as a child seeing a cartoon of a man with a sandwich board that read something like "The end is near".

When the calendar clicked over to 2000, many thought the world would come to a screeching halt.

1.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, but that's about it
This book is offensive to all religions other than the author's. As another reviewer pointed out, this work seems to be little more than a thinly veiled attempt to convert others to the author's sect / church. He more or less 'debunks' most of the prophecies / predictions by ancient cultures about 2012 by quoting from the two Testaments. Now for a person who also follows...

I can remember as a child seeing a cartoon of a man with a sandwich board that read something like "The end is near".

When the calendar clicked over to 2000, many thought the world would come to a screeching halt.

I look at prophecies in the same light I do horoscopes - We can find a way make the prediction fit the day. So, I am pretty skeptical when it comes to predictions.

Here is the rub...Many people emphatically believe in horoscopes, and read their predictions daily... They swear by these predictions. I believe the same is true for each race, religion, and culture....There are many people in these groups that have total faith and belief in the predictions that relate to them.

For example: In this book there is information on a Shiite prophecy that tells of a time when a "tall black man will assume the reins of government in the west" and this is a signal Muslims to accept a militaristic Muslim leader intent on converting the world to Islam. What this means to me is that whether or not I believe that the current President is that "tall black man" really does not matter, what matters is that there may be millions of Muslims that truly believe this prophecy. They have the ability to make this prophecy real and valid by supporting a militaristic Muslim leader, when they otherwise would not.

This is only one of many instances in this book whereby if there are enough believers, the prophecies can come to fruition.

With this book you can get a grasp of what could be the mindset of believers and be prepared to react.

As a Catholic it is hard to swallow the anti-Pope scenario, and also the prophecy of the rise of an ecumenical military leader who will change the Catholic faith. But, at least my head will not be buried in the sand if such things should occur in my lifetime. And, I should credit the author even on these points as he has many legitimate Catholic references that back him up on this (yeah, even including a future anti-Pope scenario).

I truly believe the author tried his best to present factual information in a way that helps us to make informed decisions on how to react to certain events. There are over 30 pages of endnotes and references. This is definitely not a book of fiction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, August 4, 2009
This book shows that ancient chinese prophecies, Mayan interpretations, Hebrew prophecies, Islamic prophecies, Hindu predictions, Catholic prophecies, and Byzantine interpretations(which represent over 5,000,000 people) are expecting similiar events. Since reading the book I have experienced a paradigm shift in the way I think, pray, and live. The authors keen bibilical insight, prophetic sources, and multiple references give the book credibility which the reader can use to decifer world news. The book would be a great companion to the bible and anyone studying end time prophecy. I highly recommend this book as a 'must read' for everyone who wants to understand how predicted events will affect their lives.

5.0 out of 5 stars 2012 - will it bring the end?, September 15, 2009

In this book the world is turned upside down. Suddenly those from a secret sect are the "good ones" and the ecumenical movement is not. This gives a surprising but fascinating new perspective to the many end time prophecies. The author manages to project an amazingly detailed picture of a possible end-time scenario by a synopsis of prophecies existing in many cultures. To the reader who would like to know what the various cultures and religions believe concering the end of the world, this book is truly a "survival guide" giving an overview helping to understand what people talk about. And after all, this book explains thoroughly why the world will not end in 2012 - not yet...

5.0 out of 5 stars AN ELEGANT, OBJECTIVE SURVEY OF OMINOUS 2012 PREDICTIONS, April 20, 2010

This review is from: 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect (Paperback)
An indispensable one-of-a-kind compilation and analysis of 2012 predictions from scientific, secular, and religious sources. This work contains one of the most exhaustive collections of Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox prophecies ever published. It is guaranteed to present the serious researcher with brand new, original material and perspectives.

To the author's credit, the difficult task of classifying and correlating scores of divergent and often opposing predictions was skillfully implemented. The amicable, good-natured, and civil tone that permeates the book, combined with it's sound syllogistic reasoning, yields a work that individuals of all convictions, tenets, and faiths (or skeptics and cynics) will find extremely enlightening.

National and international events that have transpired since the book's release have substantiated the author's many suppositions. Well documented with full citations and references. I purchased several copies as gifts.

1.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, but that's about it, April 24, 2011
This review is from: 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect (Paperback)
This book is offensive to all religions other than the author's. As another reviewer pointed out, this work seems to be little more than a thinly veiled attempt to convert others to the author's sect / church. He more or less 'debunks' most of the prophecies / predictions by ancient cultures about 2012 by quoting from the two Testaments. Now for a person who also follows the author's sect, this may make complete sense, but if you ask people who follow other religions, or even other churches, you'll find that it's just a matter of the author's religion vs. theirs. This in no way proves that the author's sect is superior or the 'true path'; it just shows a different point of view. This book may be interesting, or even entertaining, but the 'proof' it presents is in no way conclusive.
