I bought this for my husband for Christmas, thinking it'd be something like a book that he could decorate his office, something similar to a calendar of "The Lord of the Rings". It was not what I thought it was but sheets that you put up on a wall. I wish there were more info as to what it was. I was very disappointed when it arrived.

When I first opened the box, I was a bit skeptical...Scrolls! 3 Months to a vellum-like sheet and some very artwork (stills from the movie, of course). They are quite long, which had me wondering how I was going to put these up in my office cubicle, but the scroll feature actually made these incredibly versatile. I am able to only have 2 months showing at a time to avoid having it spill out onto my desk, but after the first month on the sheet, I "scroll" it up to reveal the bottom portion...genius! I love this idea and would recommend it to any Hobbit fan, trust me , you will like it.

The description does not do a good job informing you about what exactly you are getting. What you get is four separate "scrolls" that are about 12" wide and 24" tall. They are printed on very nice, slightly textured paper. Each scroll has 3 months of a calendar on one side, and a lovely poster on the other side. The poster images are:

- Gandalf, looking as if he is traveling
- Bilbo with all of the Dwarves
- Radagast, with a lush green forest backdrop
- Elrond, in what looks like full battle dress (a dark outfit)

IMHO the posters alone are worth the price of this item even if you aren't interested in a calendar. Incidentally, the actual calendar aspect of this item isn't all that great -- beautiful to look at, surely, but printed rather small (and not really for writing on) compared to a normal full size calendar. Also, note that there are no holes for hanging so you will need poster tack or similar.

One issue with this item: the packaging is horrible. Looks nice, but that's about it. Imagine rolling up a poster all neatly, then squishing it down a bit so it is rolled into an oblong shape with slightly flattened sides. Yes, that is how they packaged these lovely scrolls, so I suggest taking them all out of the box asap. Mine have a "wavy" look fresh out of the box, though after some time hanging on my cabinet (it is metal, so I hang them with strong magnets) they are smoothing out.

Neat concept. Thick paper that has a look and feel more like plastic than parchment. Heavy on the movie graphics, with a full size character image on the reverse. Only four scrolls, and the calendar sections are small, so they're not very useful to make notes on. What you think of these attributes depends on whether or not this product is intended for you... it's not for me.

I'm a collector of Tolkieniana, and not a big fan of the Hobbit movie. I picked up a few of the more unusual Lord of the Rings film calendars, and thought I'd do the same for The Hobbit (these were significant events, after all), but I'm sorry to have chosen this one. It comes in a thin, partially printed clear plastic box, which cracks and breaks easily. I ordered one direct from Amazon, and a second from a marketplace seller who advertised careful packaging after the first arrived badly broken. Both boxes arrived completely split down one or more sides, with multiple long cracks branching off from the main break (that will undoubtedly eventually spawn large chips), so I'm done trying to order it by mail. And, the original box will likely be a storage nightmare, and become yet more brittle as time passes, so if I had it to do over... I doubt if I'd even buy a perfect copy from a brick-and-mortar store.

Movie fans, go for it!
Collectors... I'd say pass.

I don't think the description was super clear on that this item is four separate sheets of parchment-like paper that has three months on each and a big picture of one of the characters of the Hobbit on the back, but I'm in Love with the Hobbit, so it's tough to disappoint me.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my brother in Law. He really liked it, because the prints are high quality and he was able to frame them after using them as a calendar.

It comes in four pieces instead of a standard twelve page wall calendar. It's pretty and actually frame-worthy should I ever be lucky enough to find a frame to fit.
