I agree with the description of this book: "This annual guide is the only one of its kind written to help solo and small firm lawyers find the best technology for their dollar. You'll find the most current information and recommendations on computers, servers, networking equipment, legal software, printers, security products, smartphones, the iPad, and anything else a law office might need. It's written in clear, easily understandable language to make implementation easier if you choose to do it yourself, or you can use it in conjunction with your IT consultant. Either way, you'll learn how to make technology work for you."

This was the textbook for a class I took called Law Office Technology. The course wasn't bad, although I made a B in it but made A's in everything else I took in my paralegal program. I did not find this book very helpful in the least. Most of the stuff they talked about is fairly common knowledge, especially if you know technology in any small way. In my class, we had to do some readings from the book but never the whole book. Yet we never discussed what we read in class and were never tested on it. I know that's not the fault of the publisher of this book, but it is another reason I wish I had never bought it.
I wanted to sell my book back to the bookstore, but they told me that there is now a 2014 edition out for the class. So I'm screwed. I wasted $95 on a book that is a joke and will never be used. The publisher should not put out a new book every single year. That is simply not fair to those of us who would like to sell it. Perhaps I could have gotten as much as $50 if there weren't a new edition. But there is, so no one will buy the old copy, even though I doubt there is much difference between the 2013 and 2014 editions. Shame on you!
