Like the other reviewer, I've been buying Who's Who in Baseball a LONG time....in my case, since 1954!
I also agree it hasn't changed.....at all!
It has year-by-year records for all players or pitchers who were active the previous year (plus small photos of each of them), and who are on team rosters for the current year....or will be.
It has all the post-season stats.
It has minor league stats too.
In the case of Japanese players, it shows their year-by-year career in Japan.
I favored this book over the Baseball Register The Sporting News used to put out.

Speaking of The Sporting News, being a basketball fan too, I used to buy their NBA Register, which, like its baseball counterpart, had year-by-year stats on every NBA player....and coach, plus a great roundup of all the great stars from the past, like Mikan, Chamberlain, Cousy, etc etc.
But TSN stopped publishing the NBA Register after the 2005-2006 season.
So now there is NO book with year-by-year records of active basketball players available!!
It would do the NBA-loving public a great service if they would publish an annual Who's Who in BASKETBALL....to fill one of the greatest voids in sports stats.
Please consider it!!
You'd have at least ONE very devoted customer!!

I have been purchasing these "Who's Who in Baseball" volumes since the middle 1960s (almost every year). What a boatload of information you get in going over these volumes (they are a lot thicker now than in the 1960s, before the expansion that occurred over the years)!

The premise of the book is simple: providing lifetimes career statistics for all position players and pitchers. This includes minor league records, which provides a complete picture of each player's career. Players go from A to Z--Bobby Abreu (yes, he was still around during the 2012 season) to Ben Zobrist.

Maybe the simplest way of illustrating is to take a look at a few players. I am a Chicago White Sox fan. Take Adam Dunn. People said he made a great comeback from an unrelievedly miserable 2011 season (.159 batting average, 11 home runs, and 42 RBIs). For someone identified as a major power hitter, his year was awful. 2012? 41 homers and 96 RBIs. Still, a miserable batting average of .204. Another position player--Hall of Fame bound Derek Jeter. For someone late in his career, a very nice year. .316 batting average and 15 home runs. The striking element, though, is his postseason hitting. It is like an additional year in his career! 650 at bats, 20 home runs, and 61 RBIs. Around a .300 batting average.

Pitchers? What a story R. A. Dickey was in 2012. Cy Young award winner and 20 wins. And then jettisoned by the Mets. His career shows many valleys--and few peaks until late. He had 5 shots with Texas (and featured ERAs about 5.00), poor years with Seattle and Minnesota. And then? He joined the Mets at 35 years of age and had three very strong years, reinventing his career.

And on it goes.

This annual volume, once more, satisfies.

My first was around 1964...my last will be....hopefully w-a-a-y into the future.

I still get sweaty fingertips breaking open this perennial. Please, guys, never change that cheesy cover art!

Small critique: I see no reason to separate by pages, any player's lifetime record. I always turn right to Jeter...wow...he got partitioned! He gets screwed year after year by the MVP voters...and now...jk, jk. :)

The publisher may also take a tip from the site Baseball Reference, who provides MVP rankings for each year.

Play ball!!!

Arrived quickly and in great condition. This book is a must have for any baseball fan. Contains the yearly records and statistics for all of the baseball players currently active. It's small compact size makes it easy to take to the ball game and look up the players as they come to bat. I also use it at home.

This makes my 75th annual "Who's Who.......". Baseball wouldn't be baseball without it. And just in time for the new season!
