In spite of the fact that I have to keep taping it back together again, it is a very useful tool for a busy household of six. It gives us plenty of room to write. HOWEVER, it's so big and heavy, it falls apart at the seams (its staples can't hold it together) and I have to use hole reinforcers because the hanging holes tear. This year, I simply removed several pages to lessen its weight. This is my third one so I have three years of maintenance and repair experience :-P Looking around to see if I can find a better built model...

I order this calendar every year because it is so nice and big and allows me to see the entire month quickly.

However, it falls apart every year. This year it set a new precedent.

Just now, as I was writing my 2014 engagements on it for the first time, the center sheet broke out. All I did was flip a page over as it sat on a table, and out it came! This means that:

- The latter half of May (the 11-31) has detached from the first part of May (May 3-10).
- The latter half of July (the 13-31) has detached from the first part of July (July 1-12)
- The entire month of June has fallen out of the calendar.

And the New Year hasn't even started!

I have tried in various ways to fix this calendar. All leave a lot to be desired.

I no longer even try to hang the calendar on the wall, because that stresses its construction too much.
Then even more staples lose their hold, and the holes it hangs on on give way to its weight. I usually fix the holes with with notebook reinforcer labels. However, before long, they give way, too.

So now I keep it filed with other items, which is really inconvenient. This calendar would be much more useful if it could be hung from a wall without falling apart.

I'd be willing to pay an extra buck or two. How about it, Zebra Publishing?

Exactly what I order every year - big enough to fit everyone's schedule and easy to write on with pencil. But I do wish they'd print the cover on rougher "everyday" stock instead of 2 sided shiny cover stock so that when Jan & Dec are partially printed on the inside cover its easier to write on in pencil!

With 4 very busy people, traditionally-sized calendars just don't work. The boxes on The Monster Grid are ample for appointments, and still leave enough room for writing funny comments and other events (our family calendar is also our Daily Family Diary). The pages are thick enough that there is no bleed-through when I use a felt-tip pen, a big plus.

This is our 3rd year with The Monster Grid, and there are two issues I have. Below are the issues, and how I have solved them.

(1) As large as this calendar is, it only comes with one small hole punched in the center edge of each page for hanging. This means it swings and moves every time we write on it.

(2) The weight of the calendar isn't too bad, but after a few months the hanging holes start to rip since the edges aren't reinforced.

To solve both problems, I reinforce and re-punch new holes. (I first measure in 1/3 from each edge on the first page, and punch a two new "hanging holes" with a paper punch. Once I know where they will be, I place a small piece of heavy-duty mailing tape over the same 2 locations on each page, then continue to punch new holes in each page.)

It only takes a few minutes, and it's worth it because this truly is the most workable calendar I've found.

This calendar has large grids to write notes, messages and remember events of that day. It's a great calendar! I would recommend to my friends.

In the past I had tried so many different calendars or plan books to manage my family events, school activitites, reminders. We have been using this Monster Grid for the past several years now and we still love it as our family calendar in the kitchen. I have bought it for my mother a couple of times in the past and she loves it. A faily sufficient amount of rooms to write in family's daily reminders. Plain & simple design (no photos no proverbs) helps me to get to these reminders without distraction. It is practical.
I searched for Monmmouth Grid because I can use more room to write in, but I found it is too big for our kitchen wall unfortunately.

I had this calendar this past year and it was really great for organizing my week. Nice and big, with adequate space to note all my daughter's many appointments, my husband's days off, my kids' milestones, important dates, birthdays, noting big purchases, everything. I just got the 2014 version here and it's every bit as great. If you like your calendars plain and large-ish with lots of room to write, this could be the calendar for you.
