5.0 out of 5 stars BEST STAND ON THE MARKET !!!!
Don't listen to these other YaHoos, "This Stand Is Great". You put it on the tree 'before' you stand it up and then make the final adjustments while the tree is standing. The stand has four adjustments on each axis so you can make ANY TREE stand straight and tall no matter how crooked the trunk is. My tree is 10' to 12' each year and this stand has worked beautifully...

Like the other review I thought maybe I didn't line the tree up right but when you watch it the screws were actually falling out because the threads on the base are thin and PLASTIC. Also I did'nt overtighten . I guess this stand would be good for a very small tree . They should put some sort of anchors (aluminum, or stainless)

2.0 out of 5 stars I'm Dreaming of a Wet Christmas, December 19, 2006
This review is from: H M S #208F-5 24" H2O XMAS Tree Stand
Although the 1.6 gallon water capacity is an improvement over similar stands, the area you pour the water into--this thing's most touted feature--is a joke. It is nearly flat, with only a small slope down into the stand. Unless you pour water extremely slowly, it splashes out and runs down the side all over the carpet or flooring beneath. Imagine pouring a jug of water onto a flat rock and you get the idea. I have completely given up even trying to use the water intake spout, and now just pour it from the other sides as you would with any other stand.

The stand has two rows of 4 screws to hold the tree, or 8 total. The ends that are to be twisted are "L" shaped, like an Allen wrench. They are difficult and sometimes impossible to twist into the stand without using a pair of pliers. There is a cheap plastic handle provided you can slide over the L, which offers very little additional comfort or leverage. And since there is only one of these, you have to keep removing it and moving it to other screws to evenly adjust it.

Not worth the additional cost over other large capacity stands. Save your money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wouldn't even hold a 7' tree!, December 1, 2009
This review is from: H M S #208F-5 24" H2O XMAS Tree Stand
This stand claims to be rated for 10' trees, but I don't see how unless your tree is extremely straight and skinny. I have a 7' fat tree that has fallen over twice. The first time it fell I thought it was because I didn't balance the tree right or tighten the screws enough. After the second time it fell I realized that the plastic itself was flexing and allowing the tree to shift. This coupled with the fact that the base on this tree stand is way too narrow makes for a bad stand.

Do not buy this product if you have a fat tree (I posted a picture of my tree in customer images if you want to see my fat tree before it fell) unless, of course, you like cleaning up a mixture of tree dirt, water, broken ornaments, and cellophane icicles.

4.0 out of 5 stars Darn good, December 12, 2010
This review is from: H M S #208F-5 24" H2O XMAS Tree Stand
I just bought one of these stands from a local chain hardware store. Based on the reviews here, I almost didn't buy it, but it was the only one they had. I'm very glad I did.

First, it's made in Troy, Michigan (printed on the bottom of the water well). There's 20% unemployment in that state. I feel pretty good about buying an American product and keeping Americans employed. Do you remember when we used to make stuff?

Second, a 200 pound man could turn this stand on its side and stand on it. It's built very strong - not with flimsy plastic. My 6 foot tree has a trunk about 7 - 8 inches wide, and this stand holds it no problem. After properly securing the screws to the tree, you could easily push the top of the tree with a good shove, and it won't tip over.

Like some other reviewers, I thought the new hole in the side of the stand for water was a little stupid. However, after using it a few times, it's a nice add. I never really thought adding water at the top was a problem, and frankly I'd rather have the extra water capacity - so I'm neutral about this feature.

One reviewer noted that the screws stick out pretty far, which I agree with. We used the screws to drap our fabric over to hide the stand, so it was a positive for us. But if you have delicate fabric which might get ripped easily, you'll have to be very careful.

The one thing I don't like is the pastic eyelettes for the metal screws. I think after 2 or 3 years, they could stripped. Really, this is my only gripe with this stand. The screws themselves are fine, and the little plastic handle they add for the screws is a nice-to-have, but not essential by any means. Always remember, your handles on the bottom screws should be pointed down in order to start with the top screws (otherwise, the handles for the screws will hit eachother).

With this said, this stand is far better than almost every other stand that I've had over the years.

The stand has four adjustments on each axis so you can make ANY TREE stand straight and tall no matter how crooked the trunk is. My tree is 10' to 12' each year and this stand has worked beautifully every year! There is a large reservoir to feed your tree with an easy access opening. Yes it is plastic but my 1st one lasted 6 years if you treat it right...

2.0 out of 5 stars bad stand, December 17, 2009

I got this stand from a major hardware store, but I'm sure it's the same stand. Unlike the cheap metal stands, which sometimes require some trimming of branches at the bottom to make the tree fit, this stand will hold just about any tree, which is great. However, it's hard to water the tree, the screws strip, and your tree will come crashing down. Get yourself a cheap metal stand.

1.0 out of 5 stars 8.5' tree came crashing down!, December 6, 2009
By
This review is from: H M S #208F-5 24" H2O XMAS Tree Stand
6" trunk, straight 8.5 ft tree came crashing down at 3:30AM thanks to this POS stand. The plastic cracked around one of the screw holes so we couldn't even set it back up temporarily. Our tree is leaning against the wall now and we'll be buying another stand today.

While this stand looks like it would be rugged and hold a tree well, with 8 screws and a wide base, it does not. I'm just thankful that it happened over night and not while the kids were near the tree! What a mess of broken ornaments!

3.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy Stand, December 7, 2007
By
This review is from: H M S #208F-5 24" H2O XMAS Tree Stand
We just set our tree up with this yesterday and so far so good. As another reviewer wrote, the spout for the water isn't very steep so you do have to pour carefully, but that isn't really a problem for us. As with any stand using screw-in bolt holders, it took a while to get the tree aligned and tightened down properly. Once set, the tree seems very stable and I think the 8 bolt design helps with that. Still, unless you spend $50 on one with a foot pedal or some kind of automatic system for tightening you'll have to manually align the tree, which is a tedious process.

The "Ultimate Christmas Tree Stand" has a foot pedal and looks great on their company website, but it costs a lot more. So for now, the H2O tree stand is a keeper.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Tree Stand Ever, November 27, 2007
This review is from: H M S #208F-5 24" H2O XMAS Tree Stand
This stand is horrible. Our tree would not stay straight and kept leaning over after making adjustment after adjustment. This morning the tree just toppled over. Put it back up, readjusted everything again, within an hour it was crooked again, then shortly after that I heard a crash and there it was on the floor again, broken ornaments everywhere.

Save your money and buy something much better than this piece of trash.
