This is a great book to explain the basics of how computers work in a fun, non-intimidating way. It's a teen's book on bits and bytes framed as a Star Trek book. Topics include the parts of a computer (memory, storage, CPU, input/output devices) and how they interact, operating systems, applications, and so on. As it was written in the 90s it is now dated, but many of the examples (such as how pressing a key on the keyboard generates a signal that is sent to the OS and then individual applications) is still the same.
