Mac Davis has a wonderful ability to sing just about anything passionately and I never tire of hearing his excellent music. This album may not be the most comprehensive one out there by Mac; but it's still very good for his fans and it's even good for newcomers just discovering his artistry. The excellent sound is a plus and the artwork is good even if it is somewhat standard for this CD series.

"It's Hard to Be Humble" starts the CD with Mac singing at his usual very best; his excellent diction enhances his performance and you can really tell how well he connects with his adoring fans. This is a good live track. "Hooked on Music" is another delight; Mac performs this with panache and he never skips a beat! I love it. "Stop and Smell the Roses" has Mac Davis squarely in the spotlight; the backup chorus works well for this ballad but Mac never really needed it; his talent easily carried him through every time.

"Baby Don't Get Hooked on Me" made the airwaves sizzle back when this was first released; and just one listen will tell you why! The arrangement is beautiful. "Rodeo Clown" is quite well done; and I really like Mac's treatment of "You're My Bestest Friend." "You're My Bestest Friend" is one of the nicest songs on this CD and I think you'll enjoy it, too.

"Secrets" has Mac handling complex tempo and key changes like the pro he was and still remains; and listen for "Texas in My Rearview Mirror." The guitar work is just perfect and Mac never lets go of a superfluous note. "Let's Keep It That Way" shines when Mac sings it; and "Midnight Crazy" is a dynamic, upbeat song that gets my feet tapping without my even realizing it!

"Shame on the Moon" gets a very sensitive treatment from Mac; and the CD closes with Mac doing a sublime job on "Most of All." Once again, when Mac sings "Most of All" he is truly in his natural element as an artist.

Mac Davis will always be one of the great country/crossover singer/songwriters of the twentieth century; and hopefully he will continue to produce more amazing music and art in the future. Get this CD and enjoy!

I love this album. Takes me back in a great way. I thought Mac Davis was the best looking guy and loved his voice, his songs, and still do after all these years. Didn't live very far from his hometown, just wanted to meet him so bad. That hasn't changed either although my motives are quite different. He helped me through some rough times. Music is so powerful, it amazes me yet today how much our lives are affected by some artists and their music. Thanks Mac, you will never know what you did for me but I am ever grateful.

Also on this CD is "Shame on the Moon" I lightened my morning and added some humor to the day. I am so glad I ordered this CD. It amkes me happy every time I listed to it. I had totaly forgotten both of these songs and they bring back younger memories.
