Just What I Was Looking For,
By
This review is from: 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection (Audio CD)
I wanted the big hits, at a budget price. This disc delivers. It has all the hits I wanted (Hang On Loosely, Caught Up In You, Fantasy Girl, Rockin' Into The Night, Wild Eyed Southern Boys). And all of the songs that were new to me are solid, too, no filler in this collection. Couldn't ask for more!

All Of 38's Hits On 1 Disc,
By A Customer
This review is from: 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection (Audio CD)
.38 Special combine a whole bunch of influences- from Skynyrd, Blackfoot, Molly Hatchet, and the Outlaws, to Tom Petty, Bob Seger, and Foreigner. Here you get all of their radio hits on 1 disc or cassette. And the versions of the inspirational "Stone Cold Believer" and "Wild-Eyed Southern Boys" are the originals, not rare live recordings, making this set preferable to FLASHBACK.

"wild-eyed southern boys is outstanding",
This review is from: 20th Century Masters: The Millennium Collection (Audio CD)
This band was made to order for the Millennium Collection of the 20th Century - "38 SPECIAL" holds a unique position in the history of Southern rock. We have some of the best ever - Don Barnes (vocals), Donnie Van Zant (vocals), Jeff Carlisi (guitars), Larry Junstrom (bass), Jack Grondin (drums) and Steve Brookins (drums) these gentlemen became the thinking man's Southern rock band. The quality of song writing was the secret to this hard-working group and why they endured so long over the years. They may be the last Southern rock band cradled by Dixie rock.It was when the band added arena ready hard rock to its countrified blues rock, they literally shot the lights out. Take for instance - "ROCKIN' INTO THE NIGHT" (1979) - "STONE COLD BELIEVER" (1979) - "WILD-EYED SOUTHERN BOYS" (1981) - "HOLD ON LOOSELY" (1981) - and "FANTASY GIRL" (1981). Highly recommend this album which features "best of" selections from the most significant music artists of the past century. This CD contains tunes that went "Gold" and "Platinum" - "THE BEST OF 38 SPECIAL" is special for you! Total Time: 49:54 on 12 Tracks/ A&M Records
