3.0 out of 5 stars Not A Bad Choice...
Not a bad choice if you prefer the later, "MTV" incarnation of the band. This release, however, does not contain any of the best work from the original line-up. The original Whitesnake was formed after the breakup of Deep Purple and included three Deep Purple members: David Coverdale, Jon Lord & Ian Paice (Yes!). For that reason alone, "The Best Of...

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost Perfect!, July 4, 2000

I agree with the last review. Had "Cryin' in the Rain" been included, this would have been a perfect compilation. As it stands, I prefer it to the "Greatest Hits" version as I think the song selection is superior. Thankfully, the god-awful "radio mix" of "Here I Go Again" is deservedly replaced with the album version instead.

4.0 out of 5 stars Even Better Than The Greatest Hits, July 25, 2000
This review is from: 20th Century Masters: Millennium Collection - The Best of Whitesnake (Audio CD)
Usually these throw together greatest hits albums are nothing but a quick fix so when I saw this one on the racks I almost didn't look. But man, what a great collection of Whitesnake songs. With the inclusion of Guilty of Love, Give Me All Your Love and the original version (the real version, that is. I still don't know why they remixed it for the Hits album) of Here I Go Again, this is actually even better than the official Greatest Hits album from a few years back. Although Slide It In should've been included. Definately recommended for more than just a quick fix.

As a very big fan of Whitesnake, I give this album a 5 star rating. The recording is flawless...no other Whitesnake CD sounds this rich and clear. As you might see from other people that reveiwed the album here, Crying in the Rain was a shame in not being included, but when is life perfect? If you are a "true" fan of this band, you need to get this. The sound alone is worth it, and the songs...well they speak for themselves. Enjoy!!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars This Band's Got Power, May 12, 2004

This was the first album I ever bought by Whitesnake. I saw it for half-price in a bargain music store, so I got it. I was actually quite suprised when I liked it. Whitesnake was a hair/glam band from England, which is kind of suprising because most glam bands came from Los Angeles. But they show they can rock almost as much as Motley Crue or Poison. Although they don't have the good looks of Motley Crue, or the catchy choruses of Ratt, this band still has power. I like it. Any fan of 80's metal or 70's Led Zeppelin-type bands should enjoy this album.

1.0 out of 5 stars Just glosses the surface, September 24, 2000

I suppose if you were having a party that celebrated the late 80's the music from this cd would follow nicely from a Debbie Gibson opus. The real quality of Whitesnake's music however can be found from the late 70's to early 80's. This includes Snakebite, Saints and Sinners (original and better versions of Here I Go Again & Crying In The Rain), Come and Get It, Ready and Willing, Lovehunter etc.
