4.0 out of 5 stars Great, but how about some new/old A&M stuff?
Vintage Liza from her Peter Max/Rex Kramer/A&M days, previously available on three different imports (all available from Amazon): "Liza Minnelli: The Collection," "The Millennium Edition," and "Master Series," as well as the out-of-print (at least in the States) "The Liza Minnelli Foursider." At least Sony throws in a "new" song (as in never-on-CD-new) on its various Liza...

1.0 out of 5 stars 10 stars for Liza and "Didn't We", but this collection sucks
This collection is a rip-off! It contains nothing that 's never been released before...and only 12 tracks. With 7 songs from the LP "New Feelin'" alone, why couldn't they just release the complete "New Feelin'" on CD? This album 's been long out of print and deserves to be released on a compact disc! The rest of the CD is nothing new and the "live" tracks are readily...

Vintage Liza from her Peter Max/Rex Kramer/A&M days, previously available on three different imports (all available from Amazon): "Liza Minnelli: The Collection," "The Millennium Edition," and "Master Series," as well as the out-of-print (at least in the States) "The Liza Minnelli Foursider." At least Sony throws in a "new" song (as in never-on-CD-new) on its various Liza compilations to entice fans to pluck down the bucks. This compilation contains nothing previously unavailable.

Having said that, I'd pick this up just for the cover photo (being a lifelong, MAJOR fan), but otherwise, you'd be better off with "Liza Minnelli: The Collection," which contains an equal mix of Matz and Kramer arrangements. Matz's full orchestrations easily outshine Kramer's rock stylings, which don't always complement or mesh with Liza's voice.

Still, if you haven't heard Liza's "MacArthur Park/Didn't We", you need to. It's one of the most beautiful things she ever recorded, and it's on here. ...

Although there are fewer songs here, the excellent sound is so much better than the import CDs mentioned in the other review. There are so many rare & beautiful photos of young Liza in the liner notes. Buy this CD......I hesitated but I am so glad I made the right decision!

The rest of the CD is nothing new and the "live" tracks are readily available on Liza 's live CD's (Liza with A "Z", Live At the Palladium in Paris)--and if you want to hear her sing live, then you should buy the whole albums, right? The record company must have thought that if they didn't include "Cabaret" on the compilation, no one 'd buy the CD. They 're wrong!!!
Liza has millions of devoted fans all over the world who are ready to dig deep in their pockets and spend money on her original albums...if only they were available on CD... Liza 's fans don't want another "best of Liza" CD--there are enough of them already. We want Ms Minnelli's original albums on CD!
