Unique Gospel Sound That Really Inspires, December 27, 2006

I love this compilation. Joe Ligon's lead singing is so unique that it is the trademark of the largest selling gospel group in the world. Ligon has stated that his singing style was inspired by a radio preacher, Reverend C.L. Franklin, who had "this preaching kind of thing in his style. I did this preaching kind of thing in his style to go along with our singing. That was different from what anybody else was doing, and it became our trademark."
At a time when almost anything and everything gets called "roots music" or "gospel music" this is the real deal. Not only that but the message of faith and hope in the resurrected Lord Jesus comes through loud and clear in an inspired collection from a great group.
