Thoroughly enjoyable. I have the Legend of a Band on VHS, so it was nice to pick up this DVD for a decent price. If you like the Moody Blues, you will like this nice, but short DVD. Most of the material is already on the Legend of a Band footage, so for the person who has everything Moody this will not excite, but to an average fan who likes the Moody Blues, this will...

I know I shouldn't argue over an inexpensive title like this, but considering that this offers only 5 of the band's videos (Wildest Dreams, Other Side of Life, Running of Love, I Know You're Out There, and No More Lies), it dashes this fan's hopes that we will ever see a true, proper Video Collection by one of the greatest bands of all time. Most hardcore fans know that there are rare music videos for the songs Blue World and Sitting at the Wheel, and an even rarer, mostly unseen 1991 video for Say It With Love which is really sweet and SHOULD be included on this disc. All 5 of these videos are readily available on either the LEGEND OF A BAND DVD or the official Fan Club VHS that's been out for years. Someone missed the boat. What we really need is a full set of all the available videos, even at full price, which I have a good feeling Moody Blues fans would be willing to pay. This is a wasted effort...

This band has been around as long as the Stones and deserves a full boxed set of concert DVDs and a few documentaries as well as a full collection of their videos. This release of five videos of songs that are far from the bands best will just get in the way of a better project being released.Who could possibly want to own this? The two concert DVDS by the band are old and not even in widescreen mode and the better one(Albert Hall) is way too short. The band is down to three original members so time is running out for this legendary group.I hope this is not the last dvd released by the band.

3.0 out of 5 stars 20th Century Masters - Too Small, August 4, 2004
This review is from: 20th Century Masters - The Best of the Moody Blues: The DVD Collection (DVD)
These 20th Century Master Colllections of a few videos aren't bad; they are just too short for the money. This one has five videos from 1986 and 1987 that are very good, but why only five? Personally, I will wait until a DVD video collection of more is released before I buy this. Another dissapointment is that there is no audio enhancement such as DTS or Dolby Digital.

Any Moody video is better than none. This is a shorty, but it didn't cost much. Fun to play 3-4 times late at night. Sure, sound could have been better. I guess this was made in the mid-80s, and they still look and sound good. Wish there would be a late '60-ish or early '70-ish dvd when they were IT!.....
P.S. - I saw them again in person in 2001 at a casino in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was a perfect trip back in time. The only difference is that beer and vodka replaced acid. This dvd is just fine, indeed!

This is not at all what I expected. Someone else may love it but I would rather not have a dvd that is a lot of videos. It seemed very chopped up and disconnected.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Moody Blues video collection, April 15, 2004
This review is from: 20th Century Masters - The Best of the Moody Blues: The DVD Collection (DVD)
A very enjoyable, if too short, compilation of Moody Blues music videos.
The first two, 'Your Wildest Dreams' and 'I Know You're Out There Somewhere', which offer a juxtaposition of the band's early days (young actors are playing their parts) and their present reality (1986/88), were the only ones scripted by the Moodies themselves, and 'Your Wildest Dreams' was nominated 'Video of the year' by Billboard magazine in 1986.
'The Other Side Of Life' presents a disturbing view of a surreal, nightmarish underworld, and effectively supports a brilliant song.
'No More Lies' combines clever animation with shots of the band members.
'Running Out Of Love' is an upbeat, exciting and very sexy clip from an actual concert.
I hope more Moody Blues videos make it to the DVD format in the future.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, February 25, 2004

I agree with the others. Each of these videos is already available on other discs, and I was disappointed to find there were only five on this one. "Say It With Love" IS a great video, and ranks as my favorite.
I have been a Moody Blues fan since 1967. I understand their desire to avoid the rock hype and all that goes with it, but they are truly one of the most undervalued groups of the past 40 years. I would pay ANY price to see a quality disc(s) with ALL their videos in one place, with a history of each but with no overdub commentary, no interruptions and premier sound.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sometimes "Something" Is Better Than "Nothing"....., April 7, 2004

While long-time fans of The MOODY BLUES may be disappointed with this particular DVD release, it might be just the "thing" for someone who is unfamiliar with The MOODIES and would like to see some videos without spending a bunch of money. So, whether something is "good" or "bad" is certainly relative!!

However.....if you MOODY BLUES fans ** REALLY ** want to rant about having something 'rare' released that never has been, then you should write to the British Embassy or someone about THIS!!: Do you know that when Justin and John released the "Bluejays" album, that they also toured Europe as "The BlueJays"? AND..... (here's the kicker!!), that the tour was also ** FILMED **?? YES, indeed!! Somewhere in a closed dark vault is a "BlueJays In Concert" film just waiting to see the light of day!!

Back in 1975, I had read a review on both the BlueJays album and of a BlueJays concert. The magazine reviewer (who actually witnessed the concert) made several mentions of how excellent the audio was and how excellent the concert was in general. Not only that.....but try and imagine Justin Hayward and John Lodge not only performing material from the BlueJays album, but also of MOODY BLUES material.....WITH AN * ORCHESTRA *!!!! Oh, YES!! The Night At Red Rocks with The Colorado Symphony wasn't really the beginning of The MOODY BLUES performing with an orchestra. Justin and John had performed as The BlueJays with an orchestra 17 years earlier!!

So.....if you REALLY want to see a concert that will blow you away, then contact Justin and John, the British Embassy, the U.N. or whomever it takes to get The BlueJays concert released as a DVD. That's my 2 cents of opinion.

(By the way.....if you're interested in hearing some really rare Justin Hayward material, feel free to contact me). I can be reached at: midnight_blue_studios(at)yahoo(dot)com. Groovin'!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, impressive songs of the Moody Blues, April 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 20th Century Masters - The Best of the Moody Blues: The DVD Collection (DVD)
As a Moody Blues fan since when I was 18, I enjoyed very much listening to this CD. I believe that Justin's and John's songs will live forever as the classical rock. I would like to thank the Amazon Product for quick delivery system, because CD's of that kind of music can not be found in my country.
Regards,
Sibel
