This film is part of the Twentieth Century, a series by the History Channel. Subject to time and budgetary constraints, its nevertheless a good introduction to the history of the former Yugoslavia, from the Second World War until the end of the war in Bosnia-Hercegovina. News footage with the original commentary is used together with current summaries and analyses by well known personalities, mostly writers, including John Fox, Roy Gutman, Michael Sells and Laura Silber. Major themes include, that the overwhelming number of atrocities in the wars, in Bosnia-Hercegovina and initially in Croatia were committed by Serb nationalist forces, and that the war in Bosnia-Hercegovina was mainly an aggressive attempt to partition the country, by the wartime presidents of Serbia and Croatia, Slobodan Milosevic and Franjo Tudjman. For a far more detailed film, espousing similar views, and with opinions contributed by most of the highest leaders, including Milosevic and Tudjman, the series, Yugoslavia: Death of a Nation, by the Discovery Channel, would be an invaluable follow up.
