I ordered these filters because my hvac guy wanted $150 to come switch out the filter. This was soo much cheaper! Also, my old filter had plastic "pleat spacers", and with this new one I didn't seem to need those anymore, it holds together on its own. Incidentally, I found out MERV 13 is a very high filtration, suitable for hospitals; I probably could have gone a bit lower in MERV, which is cheaper. Still, all in all a good deal.

These are quality filters, yes. However, they are meant to go into your original "shell".
The photo of the product seems to indicate a complete setup, ready to slide in. This is simply not the case.

If you truly just need the FILTER portion, then these would be GREAT.

Product delivered didn't look anything like the picture but fit inside the old Spacegard shell with no problem. The filter is a rigid, freestanding unit shaped like a box fan that fits perfectly inside the existing Spacegard shell after the old filter and pleat combs are removed. Be sure to check your airflow direction arrows before buttoning up the system. Very handy not having to sit down and fit each pleat spacer any more. Seems to have good fit inside the duct without needing additional insulation like the original filters. I didn't think $30 each was bad considering I was buying the original filters for $40 from an HVAC company and installing them myself. The original filters also had a problem with spreading fine white dust throughout the house...see if the new filters have the same problem.

This picture on the Amazon website and the vendors is completely misleading. The use of the term replacement filter is the only way to tell this is not a real OEM product. Also note that Aprilaire or as they were called before Spacegard does not make theese type of box assembled filters. They have no version whatsoever. The reseller of these non replacements, since Aprilaire never made one like this, does not comment or remove the erroneous information. Also the filters have a lot of drag and do not work well. They will not last as long.

If you want the merv 13 and have a post 1985 Sapcegard or Aprilaire filter get the 213 filter upgrade kit. These use the accordion style media with the framework installed on the inner rail. Pre 1985 your best bet for non comb media is the Honeywell fc2001037. These do work for Spacegard 2200 series. The 4 inch depth is not a problem. You did not need the additional 2 inches of space for the filtration. Don't buy these at all for post and pre 1985 filter systems.

AS others said the photo of the filter is misleading. It shows the filter inside the shell, this is not the case. The shipping was fast and I received two filters (I have a split AC system so I needed two) nicely packaged. However it is not "just slide in" you need to place the filter in the shell of your previous filter. For me this is much better than dealing with an accordion style filter where you have to use four combs and have enough dexterity to figure it all out in the dark tight space of the attic. I was surprised to learn about this style of filters as I am a new home owner who is used to 3M filters from your local Target store.
This does the trick and it is rated for a year so I'll deal with it again next year. So far so good.

Much better filters than the ones I used to have in my furnace. Easy to install and high quality. Beats paying a premium for your local Furnace and AC guy to come out and do it.

I have been using this type of filter for years and it seems to do the job. I try to use the higher MERV filter to do a better job of filtering. It is easy to install.

The previous owner threw away the combs. The cost of the replacement combs from the local HVAC people was ridiculous. My dad has the same model and said he dithced the combs long ago. Too much hassle. They work for me. Good shipping.

Though I have not yet inserted this particular filter, I have used them in the past and am very pleased with them. Easy to change with the upgraded slide bars.
