This book is a helpful and insightful peek into the lifelong process of leadership development and self improvement. As a student of many different leadership courses, workshops and seminars, I can honestly say the language and terminology of John C. Maxwell is the most applicable to everyday life. I have been an avid believer in lifelong learning but never before considered leadership as a subject that demanded lifelong learning as well.

In a detailed and succinct fashion, Maxwell outlines each one of his laws with constructive concepts and examples that are easy for anyone to understand whether you are a CEO or a student. He uses real world leaders as examples of the successful and unsuccessful leaders of not only the United States but the world; everyone from Mother Teresa to the McDonald brothers are critiqued and praised for the leadership contributions to business and societies around the world.

Maxwell also explains that in order to understand leadership, you have to understand what leadership is not. Offering a counter-definition is a critical component of recognizing leadership both as a concept and a practice. He dispels the myths and stereotypes associated with leadership including the management myth, the entrepreneur myth, the knowledge myth, the pioneer myth, the position myth and much more - but I will not detail each one for you here, you need to buy the book!

I recommend this book because I believe that everyone and anyone can be a leader in their own right - they just have to want it. What better way to get what you want then reading a book that outlines each and every step for you? This book would make a great gift for a boss to give to his/her employees for any holiday or for no occasion at all except with the goal of self improvement and developing a better team. As an instructor at the Marine Corps' leadership school, I'm always reading leadership books to help with my classroom presentations. This book has changed countless Marines. Many never took the time to read leadership books, because they thought they needed to stay in battle history. After reading this, they almost always comment on how frustrated they are for having served in the Marine Corps for so long with blinders on. Many now mix leadership study in with their battle history because of Maxwell's insight and easy to read format. Semper Fi.

I'm currently taking a 7 week course through my church based on John Maxwell's dvd version of "The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership" and purchased the workbook for the weekly pre-prep reading. This is by far the best and most helpful leadership resource that I've read/taken. I highly recommend all versions.

This is one of the best books on leadership I've ever read. I bought this for my supervisor. He then shared it with the CEO of our company and it has now been passed through all management and senior management! If you're serious about becoming an effective leader, this is the book to read.

I received this book as a gift years back and all I can say is that I pick up something new every single time I read this book. This is one of those books that stand the test of time. Whether you lead a team of 10 or lead a team of 1, it will only help you understand who you are as a leader, and who you should be.

John Maxwell shows you, through simple observation, common mistakes and helpful insights to becoming the best leader we can. He gives you tools to use and apply to our daily lives.

When you are dealing with some of "those people", this is a great book to go back and review to keep you grounded. Easy read.

This workbook goes along with the book of the same name. It will be very helpful in the university course I will be teaching in April. The book and the workbook are excellent sources and will be valuable textbooks for my class in Leadership

I am participating in a network marketing group and using this book as a study. It is so valuable to learn from John Maxwell. He is undeniable one of the great orators and educators on growing your personal development and leadership skills. A book you will read more than once, in fact, I would suggest it as a reminder about every six months. It may change your life.

Must read. Simple, straightfoward, and to the point. Nothing in here in rocket science, but the 21 laws cover the basics you need to know to lead a team of any size.

Not enough room here to cover just what these laws can do for your ability to lead!!!!!!
