Book Description

Stories of Gratitude: Living Each Day With a Grateful Heart

Are you living life to the fullest? Or are you merely surviving from day to day?

One way to live life to the fullest is to live each day with a grateful heart. In this book, we share 21 stories of gratitude to give you encouragement and hope in your own journey. Gratitude is possible! Even though many times we cannot change our circumstances, we can change the way we see them. We can ask God to empower us to change our thoughts.

Our prayer for you is that you find encouragement within these pages. And we pray that you will ask God for His strength to renew your mind with His truth and the hope He offers each one of us every day. It is only through Christ renewing our minds that we can truly live each day with a grateful heart.

"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:2 (NKJV)

Editorial Reviews

"Regardless of where you are at emotionally, there is a gratitude story that you will relate to.  I found it to be uplifting and encouraging.  An excellent little eBook - I recommend it!"

~ Carol Brown, author of Highly Sensitive

"Can being grateful really make you see life differently? Can it help you survive the worst of times? According to the author of stories in this book, expressing gratitude can be life altering. There are stories of scary camping trips, car accidents, betrayals, medical challenges, physical challenges and unemployment. Throughout each experience we learn that there is wisdom to be gained from every difficulty. The amazing thing is that each author finds a way to see the good in their situation. So if you are plagued by discontentment and self-pity this would be a great book to read that would jolt you into the reality of how fortunate you really are."

5.0 out of 5 stars Finding Peace and Joy with a Grateful Heart! November 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a wonderful book, full of personal stories about ordinary people that have found God's peace through challenging times by having a grateful heart!

Today happens to be 15 years since my 14 year old son went to Heaven. I really needed this book, especially at this time, to encourage me to be grateful for God's grace. Even though I miss my son today, I am so grateful for the time God lent him to me!

No matter what life is throwing our way, we can have power in Christ through a grateful heart!

Thank you, Shelley Hitz, for writing this awesome book!!! May God continue to bless you!

I highly recommend this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Reminder for Me October 30, 2012
By Susan
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a wonderful, "feel-good" book. Sometimes I get so caught up in taking care of my kids and trying to remember all the things I have to do, that I feel resentful instead of grateful. And, yes, sometimes I catch myself thinking, "I CAN'T change how I feel" or "I can't help how I feel."

I really needed to read this book. I needed the reminder that there are thousands upon thousands of things to be grateful for! I really believe that; it's just that sometimes I forget.

These 21 stories are wonderful examples of how intentionally feeling grateful can really change your life. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful and Inspirational Stories November 10, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
One way to live life to the fullest is to live each day with a grateful heart, says Shelley Hitz in this inspirational book.

It is of course more difficult than it seems, especially for those, like me, who are sometimes more inclined to face modern life with a cynical heart. But, when done properly, it can be terribly liberating.

This book contains 21 stories of gratitude from different authors, designed to encourage us in our efforts to accept God's amazing love for us, and to reflect it through a daily attitude of grateful living.

Each story will affect you in a slightly different way. My favourite was one of the shortest and simplest in the collection, "Gratitude Saved the Day," about a mother and daughter whose camping trip was interrupted by a wild storm. Instead of packing up and heading home in the middle of the night they decided instead to take turns saying prayers of gratitude.

"And as we did, a peace began to settle over us and we fell asleep. The storm raged most of the night, lasting 12 hours altogether. We woke up several times and even slept in the car for a while, but we never again thought of going home because the prayers of gratitude had changed our attitude. Instead of complaining, we began to laugh and see the storm as a new camping adventure!"

This whole book is full of more such quietly beautiful stories. If you are afflicted by storms raging in your life, then read it, and see if you too emerge with a change in attitude.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring read! November 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This book was truly inspiring. The collection of true, heart felt stories provided by the author were excellent. The stories within we're from "real" people. It's nice to read a book with true accounts. It was easy to relate to the people who contributed to the book.

The stories provide a HOPE in the difficult, challenging world we live in. With each story made you want to read the story following.

The collection made you want to consider the challenge at the end of the book.

Indeed a great read. It was a speedy read too. It was easy to pick up, and if I had to put it down, it again was just as easy to pick up and continue.

It's worth reading! You won't be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Choose gratitude November 3, 2012
By K Payne
Format:Kindle Edition
In this book, there are 21 stories of gratitude divided into sections including stories of gratitude in everyday life, during a personal crisis, and during a health crisis. I enjoyed the variety of voices in the different personal stories.

I especially liked this book as it resonated the message that I wrote about in my novella, Tooth for Tooth, that "even though many times we cannot change our circumstances, we can change the way we see them."

The stories in this book remind me of the question, "What if you woke up tomorrow with only the things you gave thanks for today?" The message is clear - choose an attitude of gratitude.

It's an encouraging read that I highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Refreshing & Encouraging! November 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I have just finished reading every one of the 21 Stories of Gratitude and I am glad I did. These are stories from real people with real testimonies and my heart is encouraged.

One of my sisters says often - "It is not what happens to you in life that matters but how you respond that matters." There is power in thanksgiving and this book is a lovely reminder of this!

I recommend you get it and read it often - you will be glad you did!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read November 8, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
21 Stories of Gratitude is packed with real life stories of people who have went through some heartbreaking moments. But, they overcome with grateful hearts. They make you think twice about how God provides for us daily but most of the time we don't even acknowledge it. This book makes you see everything with a better attitude. I highly recommend it to all who wants to grow in the Lord.
