It's the perfect size for yeast starters or harvesting.

It is sturdy enough to heat and boil the wort in the flask directly over flame on my gas stove and it stands up to cooling the wort afterwards.

There were numerous scratches in the glass and areas of some kind of stuck-on debris on the inside and outside.

Works like you would expect a flask to work. A few things I found out after getting some experience with it.

1) by it's shape you may not want to boil your yeast starter in it without using fermcap. essentially because of the narrow neck it becomes a guaranteed boil-over.
2) Same comment when doing a vigorous yeast starter. the blowoff comes out easily
3) The bottom os not as flat as you'd think. It has a slight crest that causes my stirbar to jump every so often.

I use this flask to create yeast starters for home brewing and it works great. It is sturdy enough to heat and boil the wort in the flask directly over flame on my gas stove and it stands up to cooling the wort afterwards. Conveniently, the mouth is just the right size that I can use the same stopper and airlock I use on my carboys.

Unlike the first review I really must emphasize that this is an excellent 2L flask for homebrewers. I have tested it on my homemade stirplate for 24 hours with no problems with a jumping stirbar.

I have twice heated directly on my electric range with no issues.

For the money this product simply has no competition. Very pleased with my purchase.

I have used one of these for many years for yeast starters. Boil on the stove and move to a cold water bath. Hint: add a few hop pellets early to cut the foam.

We use this as a wine decanter and for that purpose it's awesome! Big enough to hold at least two bottles, and the opening holds a Vinturi perfectly.
No idea what it is like for its intended purpose, but for us, it's great.

I ordered the 2000ml erlenmeyer flask to use for a yeast starter. It arrived well-packed and unbroken (which is good!), but on closer inspection it looked like it has been used. There were numerous scratches in the glass and areas of some kind of stuck-on debris on the inside and outside. I had to scrub it down with a bottle brush and warm OxiClean solution to get out the crud. The bottom of the flask is not very flat and it wobbles when you set it on a flat surface. Wish I had spent a bit more $$ for the Pyrex brand flask.

High Quality, durable glass. Clear graduations make measuring easy. I am very pleased with the flask, would definitely recommend it.
