Finally: A greatest hits compilation from SIGUE SIGUE SPUTNIK!
This CD is a comprehesive collection of every 7-inch single ever released by SPUTNIK, along with rare B-sides and alternative mixes of familiar songs. Also included are tracks from the rare "SiFi Sex Stars" EP. And since the single mixes were often radically different from the album versions, this CD is a welcome addition to any existing Sputnik collection. Of particular interest is the wonderfully wierd "Barbarandroid" and a lovely remix of "Dancerama," which is far superior the original album version. Unfortunately missing is the beautiful "Atari Baby," since it was never officially released as a single. This CD is a dream come true for all SPUTNIK fans, and it's the group's most consistently enjoyable album to date. Let's hope that a compilation of 12-inch Remixes is not far away... NOTE: There actually is a CD of "12-Inch Remixes" available through the SPUTNIKWORLD website, but these are NOT the original remixes from the original 12-inch singles released in the 1980's. Just thought I'd warn you...

Stars of the 80's,
By Brett Phillips (South Africa) - See all my reviews

I was so happy to get my grubby paws on a copy of this greatest hits cd.I was such a fan of the Sputniks in the 80's when music was more about glamour and fun than ever before. This is a superb collection and includes some rare bsides ("frankenstein cha cha" being one such track)that any true fan will know are very hard to find. It also has all the obvious hits like Love Missile, Sex bomb boogie etc but the best track on the collection as a whole is lifted from their second album and is called Rio Rocks - the track is fun and flouncy and contains the requisite balance between Martin's camp voice and the space guitars. A real must for any fan !

NOW MORE THAN EVER,
By Wes (World Citizen, Earth) - See all my reviews

Music now is littered with the remnants of lip-synching, crap named (Sum "41"? "Maroon" 5?), unoriginal, ass-dragging artists today. Music today could use a swift KICK IN THE ASS giving musicdom something to get EXCITED about. For a needed shot of electric-powered disquietude go back to the past for the music of the FUTURE. This collection rates a little better than Flaunt It, as it has more of the "hits" as well as "Buy EMI", which was available previously only a 12" b-side, if I remember correctly. [...]

UltraHardcore fans will no doubt have many of these tracks on 12" already, but here they all are on one CD. As a nice bonus touch, booklet shows the covers of the originals so you can see at a glance some of SSS's wonderful wacky 80s artwork. Add in some nice photos of the band throughout the ages (has it been that long?) and you have a perfect package at a fair price. |
