Review

Stephen Goldsmith is one of the most effective, innovative mayors in American history. This book is an inspiring combination of vision and get-the-job-done practicality written by a man who is quietly accomplishing the near-miraculous in a major city. (Forbes, Steve )

In Indianapolis, Mayor Stephen Goldsmith has demonstrated that expanding private enterprise, not government, is key to efficient, high quality services and, more importantly, to the empowerment of the city's residents. Now the rest of America's great cities, and the nation as a whole, can benefit from his proven experience with The Twenty-First Century City. (Jack Kemp )

4.0 out of 5 stars WORTHWHILE READ BY INDIANAPOLIS MAYOR AND BUSH ADVISOR, July 26, 1999
By A Customer
I PICKED UP AND READ THIS BOOK, WRITTEN BY POPULAR AND SUCCESSFUL INDIANAPOLIS MAYOR STEPHEN GOLDSMITH, TO GAIN A DEEPER, BETTER IDEA OF THE POSSIBLE APPROACH AND STYLE OF A GEORGE W. BUSH PRESIDENCY'S DOMESTIC POLICIES. MAYOR GOLDSMITH, NOW THE CIVIC AND DOMESTIC POLICY ADVISOR TO THE TEXAS GOVERNOR'S PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN, HAS PRODUCED AN INTERESTING AND INFORMATIVE LOOK AT HIS TIME IN OFFICE, BOTH THE MANY SUCCESSES AND THE OCCASIONAL SETBACKS EXPERIENCED, AND THE LESSONS LEARNED FROM BOTH. THIS BOOK IS WRITTEN WITH GREAT CANDOR AND IS A MUST-READ FOR ANYONE SEEKING MORE INFORMATION WITH WHICH TO MAKE THEIR DECISION IN THE UPCOMING 2000 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.
