This book is the follow up to Method 1 and has some interesting fingering, chord, and strum techniques. The tablatures and notations are clearly printed and the exercises are fun. I would definitely recommend this to any beginning and / or novice player.

I have been teaching guitar for many years and this is my favorite method series. This book in particular contains so much that no other 'method' book will teach. Students learn riffs, blues, more about chord structures and primary and secondary chords in several keys. Having the CD makes it so easy for students to progress and make thier guitar 'sound' right as they play what they see on the page.

I love this book and my students do, too!

I was looking for guitar method books to teach myself how to play the guitar. I bought this series (with the CD) and determined that the Aaron Stag Guitar Method series is LACKING. He tries to cram a lot of little stuff into his books. This is not a book where you can just pick up and learn how to play the guitar. It assumes you already know how to play somewhat or had lessons, or are taking lessons.

Go with the proven method... Alfred's Guitar Method. I bought that too and found it much better. If you can not afford guitar lessons (they are expensive), get the Alfred's Guitar Method book.

But one positive comment Aaron Stag's books are eaier to learn from then Mel Bay's method. My thoughts on the Mel Bay's method is that Mel Bay was trying to impress you with his stuff.
