A practical, accessible and stylish guide to growing food and living sustainably - even in a small house in the middle of a big city.

Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Ever wondered how much effort it really takes to grow your own food and how much you could grow? Is beekeeping difficult? Can you keep chickens in your garden and would you ever be able to go on holiday again? Is solar power worth the bother? From a small terraced house in the middle of a big city, Paul Waddington has tried or researched every aspect of being a ‘twenty-first-century smallholder’. Here he provides practical, straightforward answers to these and many other questions, showing how you can enjoy the fulfilling aspects of the smallholding life without the hassle and expense of ‘going all the way’.

The book, in terms of physical appearance, is incredibly childish. Pages are alternately brightly coloured with a purple, yellow and orange colour scheme. Throughout the book one sees ridiculous flash-style images which add absolutely nothing to the book itself.

However, some of the actual information contained within this book is quite useful. That is, however, if one can find it amongst all the colourful pictures of bees and flowers.
