5.0 out of 5 stars Always ready for a happy ending!
I enjoy Sandra Brown's books since there's always a man and woman who fall madly in love, even though they fight it. It always ends well with everyone happy and blissfully married.

One of SB's earlier reads. Laura Nolan is having to sell the old homeplace (the only home she has ever known that has been in the family for generations) to pay off her deceased father's bills. She was always known as the "good, little, rich girl" growing up-has never married or know passion. James Paden who is a self-made millionaire- returns back to his hometown to show the towns people that he is worth their respect by buying the Nolan homeplace and woooing Laura Nolan into marrying him as a kind of vengence. She will be another one of his trophies. He was the bad kid that stayed in trouble when growing up and whose family was poor and no good. Little does he know that there if fire inside Laura's body ready to break out and capture his heart. Sweet story. A quick read.... not one of SB's better books, there is better to read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not up to her usual standards, July 12, 1998

This review is from: 22 Indigo Place (Mass Market Paperback)
I've read most of Sandra Brown's works, including most of her earliest works (I think this is one of them, which is why it's being reissued), and this book just didn't do it for me. The house is practically a character (ergo the title is the address), and I just didn't share the human characters' obsession with it. Better Sandra Brown novels exist (the Texas series, for starters).

5.0 out of 5 stars what a man!, February 27, 2000

The characters in this book are HOT together! James is a man after my own... Whew! This was my first Sandra Brown read and I can truly say that it was not a disappointment. The storyline was believable, the tension was sharp and the encounters sizzled. The book description truly describes the tale. Don't pass up the chance to read this one! It is in my definite keeper stack.

3.0 out of 5 stars It was okay, but there are better Sandra Brown books, July 25, 2004
This review is from: 22 Indigo Place (Mass Market Paperback)
Reading the first chapter of 22 INDIGO PLACE makes you have great expectations for the book. But it doesnt live up to any of them. Sandra Brown has written better books (ex: tidings of great joy) The character of James was good main character, but had none of the heartwarming characteristics of Brown's other heroes. The heroine was prejudiced and shallow. Like I said, the first chapter is probably the only one worth reading.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not my cup of tea, September 9, 2011

This was an okay romance from Sandra Brown's early years, but it comes from the era of romance novels where it was okay for the man to force himself upon the woman until she submitted, because he knew better than her what she really felt. It's not the violence of rape, but it still doesn't sit well with me and it puts a shadow over the entire story. I'm sure there are better romances out there.

1.0 out of 5 stars Oh, Puleeeeze...., August 30, 2005
This review is from: 22 Indigo Place (Mass Market Paperback)
This romance was my first Sandra Brown book and I was ready for some light, quick reading. Much of it was just as described in the reviews and what I expected.

But, to start with, James was so angry when he found out his new wife was a virgin that he refused to have sex with her for weeks after the wedding. What was that about??? Then when they got over that "horrible situation" it got even more unbelievable.

The main character, Laura, just can't seem to figure out that her husband, James, actually loves her no matter how doting she is, and she lives on the edge of a nervous breakdown because she's so worried he'll leave her.

He showed love for her over and over, in ways most men never would even think of, not even counting the hot sex, and she still didn't get it, just because he didn't speak the words (of course she didn't say anything either). He spent weeks looking for the beloved horses she'd had to sell and bought them back, and rehired her beloved housekeeper who had to be let go due to money problems. And she still can't figure it out? I couldn't help but think.... stupid, stupid, stupid.

I don't know.... maybe I should just go back to mysteries.

Linda

2.0 out of 5 stars Very dated early Brown effort, September 26, 2006
By
This review is from: 22 Indigo Place (Mass Market Paperback)
Laura Nolan is an heiress so deeply in debt when her dad dies and has to sell the mansion that has become her life. James Paden, the bad boy from wrong side of the tracks left town years ago to make his mark on the professional racing circuit. Now wealthy, he returns to their hometown determined to own to two things a guy like him only dreamed of growing up - the house at 22 Indigo Place and Laura Nolan. The two form an unlikely partnership when he suggests a marriage of convenience that will allow her to remain in her beloved home. Although he releases the unleashed passion buried within her, does he really love her?

Yet another dated over-age virgin deflowered by a reformed bad boy with a vicious streak story that Brown has mined to death. This is a really early effort and it shows, from the groovy clothing descriptions to the sadistic way James treats Laura when he discovers how "innocent" she is - acceptable behavior in an era when "Dynasty" was a force to be reckoned with.

5.0 out of 5 stars GIVE IT A READ......, January 10, 2006
This review is from: 22 Indigo Place (Mass Market Paperback)
GIVE THIS BOOK A TRY i have seen some of the reviews and hope you will give it a read. If you like the i was poor badboy wanting the rich girl, i can't have her but now i have money to buy her out, i mean you will like it. It's simple yes but has a sandra brown touch to it, keep in mind that you have alot of stories about rich girl poor guy theme but it's how the author writes about it that makes a difference...This is one of my favourite books and hope you think of it as such

Everybody has a different opinion when writting a review if we all had the same reviews or opinions it would be boring. Reviews can sometimes down play a really good book or up play a really bad book its up to us to read the book and judge for ourselfs and draw our own conclusion thats the best thing about a review its like a silent debate....
