This is our third Many and Pandy book. We also have "Mandy and Pandy Say Ni Hao Ma" and "Mandy and Pandy Play Let's Count". We are not as happy with this third book because it lacks a very useful learning tool that the other books had: music.

In "M&P Play let's Count", there is a beat in the background that the English and Chinese words are spoken to. It's imperfect and a little cheesey, but it really helps you remember the words and makes learning them more fun. In "M&P Say Ni Hao Ma" they didn't use the same music-beat-method, but each page had different background music. The benefit to this is that it helps break the book down into smaller bits - one bit with each music. The music also helps develop an emotional attachment, which always helps with the learning process.

In this book, "M&P Play What Colors Do You See", there is no music whatsoever. This makes the whole book more of a chore and much less fun. It still teaches Chinese, but I'm sorry they decided to go dry.

I also don't like how Chris Lin refers to himself as the CEO on this cd. Previously, he just called himself the creator. That was cool. He created something neat! His new title makes him a little less human and a little more corporate. Just another element that dries out the once fun and friendly series.

This was a great purchase. Being American-born, I was exposed to Chinese but never learned to speak it. The book includes an English translation, pin yin, and an audio cd for correct pronunciation. Mandy and Pandy introduce the different colors in Chinese and go on to include those each color in several sentences. I'm looking to buy the rest of the books in the series. Great for parents who are not fluent in Chinese.
