I have been a loyal fan of Stan Kenton's music, especially from the 40's and 50's, and this is a good example of one of his very best bands containing such luminaries as Lee Konitz, Conte Candoli and Frank Rosolino. The material consists of broadcast transcriptions from Birdland and the Hollywood Palladium. Rarely did Kenton (or anyone else) have such an assembly of talent in the one group, and they are performing at the top of their game.
