Do Not Purchase This Phone,
By A Customer
This review is from: AT&T 2300 2.4 GHz DSS Accessory Handset for 2300-Series Expandable Phones (Office Product)
I'd give it 0 stars if I could. I had the same problem with the phone cutting out as the person from Plainview, NY. See AT&T 2300 2.4 GHz Cordless Phone with Caller ID for the review. I do not have call waiting nor do most of the people I call. AT&T was trying to blame the problem on that, but it must be something else. They sent me a new phone (wrong model) to replace it, but it had the same issue. I sent it back. Later, the original phone was unable to find it's base even though other phones worked fine when plugged into the phone connection.

Great product - No caller I.D. bug either,

I have four of these phones (a base and three additional phones) and four teenagers! I think they have held up well. I have also found the Caller I.D. feature to work fine as well. An earlier reviewer indicated it had a bug, but I think this will solve the problem for him. Page 42 of the manual explains that to change the Caller I.D. display, you press # until you see the number in the display change to the way you need it to be to dial it (i.e., push the # sign until the #1 appears before the phone number to dial a long-distance number).

We've had this phone for over a year now and it is hands down the best cordless phone we've had. Quality is excellent, machine is very clear. We bought the Uniden - 2 handset phone first - but every time we put on the microwave while we were on the phone, the unit would get static. No such thing with this unit. It works great. I have 2 handsets and now I'm thinking of buying a couple more for the rest of the house.

READ THE MANUAL!
I have had this phone with 3 handsets and the only drawback is I don't have the 4th! There is no caller ID bug. You just have to tap the REDIAL button until the number is displayed the way you want to dial it (7 digit, 8 digit, 10 digit, 11 digit) It cycles through all the possibilities of dialing the number for your local dialing rules. Great sound, Great reception, Great Versatility! I have 2 small boys and the speakerphone is great for them. Plus, they've dropped the phones many times and it holds up! Great Value! Buy It!

I don't know what some of you are doing with your phones, but I have not had any problems over the past YEAR with my phone. The only problem I have experienced is that someone in my house left one of my three handsets on the back of my truck. It is nowhere to be found. Thanks alot Kevin!

AT&T 2300 Almost Perfect,

This phone along with the 2365 system has been very useful for my family. It holds 50 phone numbers in memory. The answering machine base works great, separating the adults' messages from the kids. Being able to review the last 50 calls with caller ID is nice as well. You can keep the ones you think you may call again soon or delete them whenever you're ready. The mute button, the intercoming ability, conferencing, etc. are all cool features to have. The styling and design of the handsets and base unit along with the affordable price are two of the things that drew us to this phone system. The one main drawback we've seen is that the phone is somewhat slippery or hard hard to grasp, hence we've dropped them quite a few times...more than with other phones we've owned. The sleek design, smooth contour is what we think causes this problem. Maybe a rubber-like or more tacky grip surface would help with that. Other than that, we love it.

Great bargain system - except for the Caller ID bug !!,

In my search for a cordless phone with the following features, I thought this ATT 2322/2300 was IT. - atleast two handsets - expandable to more. - NO answering system on base. - Caller ID (this was the drawback read below!) - 2.4ghz DSS - Speakerphone on each handset - and most other common features! The Caller ID only displays the 10 digit format from SBC/Ameritech and the phone cannot add a 1 in front - so that I end up dialing local numbers! eg. My local area code 630, CID: 7734421234 - dialing from the phone to this CID results in 7734421 (ie 630-773-4421)! If only there was a provision for adding a 1 in front of CID dialed calls. The Casio Phonemate system I had did have this feature - but the Casio was a horrible system in every other manner!!

I love this phone too it's simple and easy to use. Yesterday I was thinking about tossing these phones out due to the "sticky keypad disease" which I had originally thought was inherited from a batch of refurbs I bought here on Amazon. After reading the reviews I am thinking it may or may not be the case. It could also be that the rubber on the keypad melts over time.
I thought it would be worthwhile to post the fix! This weekend I opened all of my 7 AT&T 2320/2322/2325 handsets with a tiny philips screwdriver, the kind used to repair eyeglasses, a regular philips, and a tiny flat screw driver to pop them open. I swabbed the inside of the circuit board buttons with rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs/qtips. I then sprayed can air to help them evaporate. All of my handsets are now in PERFECT condition and working better than new! Give it a try, would love to hear from you if this works!

Good phone! I've been using them for ten years or so. I first bought it, after a consumer magazine review indicated that the headset would go a long time without needing a charge. It definitely works great for battery life, and most other aspects. I've used it with a headset, and it works good there, with no complaints from the person on the other end saying they can't hear me well. It not quite as good with the speaker phone. The only significant downside is the keypad that slowly fails over a few years. You have to press harder and harder to get a given number to dial. It gets noticeable after a year or two. Because of the great battery life, and the low cost of refurbished 2300s, we just buy another refurb when one gets too hard to dial. I read somewhere of a man that wrapped the keyboard area with plastic wrap, and he claimed it prevented the keypad troubles, even under dirty operating conditions. I haven't tried that yet.

I have been using the AT&T 2300 for a few years now. It's easy to use and the sound quality is pretty decent. My biggest issue is when the keypads go. Every single one I have owned has gotten the 'sticky keypad disease'. It eventually gets so bad that it becomes almost impossible to use. But the replacement handsets are so relatively cheap it's worth it.
