Editorial Reviews

As listeners, we like to enjoy music 24 hours a day, seven days a week. So it s a good thing that contemporary jazz greats Gerald Albright and Norman Brown have been working overtime to produce 24/7, their first album together. This June 19, 2012 release on Concord Jazz, a division of Concord Music Group, offers ten killer soul-jazz tracks of music that never sleeps.

Ever since the debut of Norman Brown s critically acclaimed 2002 album, Just Chillin which won a GRAMMY in the prestigious Best Pop Instrumental Category this innovative and original guitarist has been front and center in the fast evolving fusion of pop, R&B and jazz that has captured the imagination of true music aficionados across the country and around the world.

On 24/7, Brown teams up with saxophone master Gerald Albright, whose high-profile recordings have established the Los Angeles-based musician as one of the most prominent artists and a true musicians musician. Whether he is playing contemporary or straight-ahead jazz, Albright stands in a class all by himself. His 2010 release, Pushing The Envelope, received a GRAMMY nomination for Best Pop Instrumental Album.

3.0 out of 5 stars Real let down June 23, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I been fan of Norman Brown for a long time and have listened to some Gerald Albright and it was funky. This is like a Gerald album with Norman as a featured sideman. Norman is there but buried in the mix and doesn't seem his high energy self. Overall album is typical smooth pop jazz which great players can bring life too, but in this case its not happening. So being generous and giving it 3 stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars ok July 11, 2012
Format:Audio CD
First I would like to say. I have got to be one of Norman browns greatest fans. All of his mojazz recordings were shockingly fantastic. Norman Kicked the doors off the hinges and exposed R&B lovers all over the world a brand new realm of music! Me and my whole team love him very much. But, I would like to say that there was once a driving force behind Norman that made him That juggernaut of an entertainer. I Dont know Who or what that force was. But it inspired him and drove Normans spirit to new heights. Maybe it was a relationship, Or he has lost a loved one. I dont know. But, I Pray he will find it once more. we love you Norman. 5.0 out of 5 stars Best album since after the storm May 23, 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I have every Cd in Norman Browns catalog and this CD in my opinion is the best Cd he has put out since " After the Storm " and is equally as good! Initially I was hesitant to buy this as I was disappointed with " Sending my Love " and then I heard the song " Keep it moving " and was blown away! This is a must have for all Norman Brown fans! 5 stars all the way!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's Party Time! June 10, 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Phenomenal jazz musicians, Brown and Albright make you wanna dance and sing along. I am particularly partial to the cut "Champagne Nights", and every time I play it, it's like the first time I heard it. Brilliant talents who demonstrate their love for great music.

By Freddy

Brown and Albright have always stood head and shoulders above the crowd in terms of taste and chops. Man do they have chops!
This CD is fun and funky, but pulled off with such skill that there's no doubt that you're listening to masterful musicians.
