1.0 out of 5 stars Not same as hard cover book.
The Kindle edition I thought would be same as hard cover edition. However it only covers the first chapter of the hard cover book. Even thought it appears to have 6 chapters it is not the same as hardcover. Probably my last Kindle Book.

5.0 out of 5 stars 24 Hours that Changed the World will change you, March 20, 2010

Introduced to this work through a Bible study, our participants found that they were profoundly moved. There are actually two items that I had ordered. The first is the book by Hamilton and the second was the 40 day devotional that supplements the book. Either or both can be used for a study or for individual use. The church also purchased the DVD and that is really a plus. A definite purchase for Bible studies. Hamilton uses all four Gospels to tell the story and through the study clarifies discrepancies among them.
Hamilton's style is at once smooth, easy reading and yet has a way of sneaking up on you with the issues raised. I found myself rereading parts so that I really had the idea because it made me think well beyond the box. He brings a wealth of understanding of that period of history and places the last day in proper perspective to the times. He also does not mince words about conditions during the rule of the Romans and he includes details of the customs of the time as well.
Hamilton guides us through the last day of Christ's life on earth in human form and encourages us to put ourselves in the position of every major character who had a major impact on the proceedings. We are Judas, Peter, John, Pilate, the Council, and others. We are asked to seriously consider our humanly weaknesses, our prejudices, and our plan to become even closer to God and move ourselves further along our faith walk.
This work is especially significant during the Lenten season, but I would not limit my reading to just that period. We need to be constantly reminded of the many lessons and thoughts that Hamilton raises through this small reading. Highly recommended for older teens through adults.

5.0 out of 5 stars True to it's title, April 14, 2010

Adam Hamilton has written a book that clearly explains the events of Holy Week. He is especially good at explaining the atmosphere surrounding the arrest and crucifixion of Jesus Christ. He takes a balanced approach in his discussion providing an unbiased explanation of the arrest and crucifixion. As a pastor, I found this book so excellent that I plan on using this as the basis for next year's mid-week Lenten services. This book is well worth the time it takes to read it slowly and thoughtfully.

This review is from: 24 Hours That Changed the World - DVD with Leader's Guide (DVD)
These, DVD and study guide, along with the 40-day devotion book, and the other book, are the most interesting, enlightening, educational piece of work I've seen about the Easter story. Pastor Hamilton didn't try to tell the Bible story in a new way, but took us to the places where the events could have happened and made you feel like you could have been there and experienced it in a deeper way. What a gift he gave us explaining the gift God gave us, and still gives us. I was so impressed I ordered one for each of our 8 children and their families.24 Hours That Changed the World - DVD with Leader's Guide

In using 24 Hours That Changed the World as a churchwide study, and sermon series, it brought Easter into a deeper perspective. Conversation in the small group atmosphere became very emotional at times.

5.0 out of 5 stars Changed how I look at everything, January 27, 2011
I did a Lenten bible study last year and we used this text. What a wonderful experience. The mixture of scripture, history and tradition made the book and the experience come alive. We all were touched in our faith. I highly recommend this book and will be sending it to several friends to share the experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars 24 Hours, January 28, 2011

Hamilton is subtly good in this book. Gives alot of historical detail and character development and then challenges us to think about our own identification(s) with the unfolding events and the characters that were present in the story.
Got enough copies of the hardcover and the devotional to give to each worshipper for the Lenten Season.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring and Interesting, April 28, 2011

I had done one Biblical book study previously, but felt like I didn't understand what was being discussed. This book was an easy read - interesting, easy to relate to, informative, fun to discuss. The author introduced ideas I had never thought of before. Some I agree with; some I didn't. Reading it during Lent was of course a big plus. The video each week was a bonus, and the fact that our pastor had just returned from her first trip to the Holy Lands didn't hurt either. I heartily recommend this book. When you're done with it, pass it on to a friend.

4.0 out of 5 stars Challenging Listen, January 16, 2012
This is an excellent audiobook to help to really get to grips with the last day in the life of Jesus. Its very comprehensive in biblical, cultural and historical detail which makes it an incredibly interesting audio. I've learnt so much from listening to this that I couldn't have got from just reading my bible and I am very grateful to Adam Hamilton, the author for going into so much detail.
At times it was very uncomfortable as the author puts you on the spot to consider how you would behave in the same circumstances as some of the 'villains' in the time-line. This is good though as it stopped me in my tracks and really made me think about my behaviour both past and present. I discussed this quite a lot with my husband as I was listening, so it definitely does make a good resource for small groups whether that be in a church or a friends setting. The narrator Lloyd James is very good and clear in his narration and the quality of this production is excellent. Thanks to christianaudio.com Reviewer's Program for this copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes Indeed --- 24 HoursChanged the World!, April 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Rev. Hamilton again uses his precise and accurate style portraying a Christian theme. The description of Holy Week leading to the Last Supper gives an intimate meaning to the mission and yet personality of Christ.
Hamilton's narration in print and film gives Christians everywhere a deeper understanding of Passover and the Eucharist. This would be a great learning tool and experience for small groups.
