Miguel can absolutely do no wrong,
By Jack Dempsey (South Miami Beach, Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 24th St. Sounds (Audio CD)
That about sums it up. Here, his second "nrk" release, he does not fail to disappoint. This is quite possibly his finest release in a very, very long time. Those of you familiar with him, already know what to expect. If you have followed him from his Naked music and Petalpusher days, you already are in the know. Expect beautiful, deep, sexy and fluidly flowing house. Very similar to the kind of stuff that Dolce Vita puts out, or a more refined Hed Kandi if that does anything to further explain things.
I too now live on South Miami Beach as a reviewer below me, but am a native of and am originally from San Francisco. Having lived in San Francisco and grown up there for over 25 years before coming here, I saw many dj/club styles come and go and was there just as Miguel Migs and others, such as Mark Farina, Kaskade and other Mushroom Jazz stalwarts were really blazing trails. It's fantastic to see them continuing to do so and deliver outstanding and far superior products over those of their counterparts. Definitely check this out. You will not at all be disappointed and I wager it will be one that you reach for time and time again. It is absolutely one of my favorite purchases in quite some time. If you are new to Miguel Migs, check out his other nrk "Nitelife" release, as well as all of his Naked Music cd's too. You will definitely thank yourself for doing so.

San Francisco Sounds - New York Style,
By RNC213 (Los Angeles, CA United States) - See all my reviews

I am inspired to write by what I hear from CD 2, and don't get me wrong, CD 1 captures me. But, the expanse of Miguel's talent is truely evolving on CD 2. Personally, I did not realize both Julius Papp and Miguel are from San Francisco as I am. Hey, I live in Miami and we all know New York is the bomb when it comes to kulture, but it says a lot when the DJ is able to syncopate the current sound of Latin House, Jazz, Disco and Funk into timeless beats with a rhythm that is not to be laughed at. The release is brillaint, and anyone who listens will remember those fabululous days of Shalamar and will be looking forward to the new season in dance music.

On the fence??,

I worship Naked Music and have been previously dissapointed with previous migs projects. 24th St. delivers in a big way if you already like Bare Essentials and Carte Blanche. Disc 1 is a new favorite for me despite a jazzy, muzaky start. Make room for dance with this on your Ipod, you'll be completely overcome by the sound and the style of this incredibly endearing combination of great beats and sensual motives. I was on the fence about this one as I don't love everything I have by him. I'm telling you to jump in if you love your music naked. This one's a really good time! Don't listen to anyone, try it for yourself and see. Something for everyone here, perhaps you'll just love it all as much as I do!

Look at his other reviews and you can see how he slags daft punk's greatest album then admits his true colours by being an Oasis fan.
Hes not mentally equiPped to review dance music as he knows nothing about it. Great track selection and mixed in true Miguel Migs style. Written in haste...

This CD hits home on the deep house groove tip. I've been housin' since back in the days when I lived in New York City (Paradise Garage, Body and Soul NYC, etc.). Since moving to Southern California, I've heard house evolve into music people label as house (techno, trance, etc.) and have listened to DeeJays spin this interpretation of house music. However, hearing Migs is like a breath of fresh Deep House Air. This is truly house music at its best. The deep soulful grooves just keeps flowin' and keeps your spirits up (As Eddie Amador says, "Its a spiritual thing"). Not everyone understands true house music, but this cd will put you on track or even make you a believer. Can't wait until Migs puts it down again and I would love to find out if he makes any appearances in Southern California. I know I would probably be amongst a younger crowd, but its all about the music! You real house music lovers know what I'm talkin' about!

Remembering When.....,

Get this cd! You wont be disappointed! Being from San Francisco, but now living in Pennsylvania I miss the opportunity of just being able to wake up on a Sunday morning and head to The Endup to hear some of the greatest DJ's around. Miguel Migs has always been one of my favorites with his deep sexual vocal house sound. The first time I heard him play was at The Endup and not knowing who it was at the time.... it was sound that just drew you to the dance floor and made you yearn to hear more and feel more and to know WHO IS THAT????? Those that are true house fans, know exactly what I mean... being out on the dance floor with so many people around you just taken by the sound. Thats where Miguel Migs puts you everytime!
He has continued to prove himself as one of the worlds top DJs and to hold his own among the greatest out there. I have enjoyed watching his career progress as far as it has, but then also enjoyed knowing that has never forgotten where he has come from. My hats off to you Miguel, continue on your road of success! I can't wait for the next one!

Miguel's rockin' downtown sounds,

With 24th Street Sounds, master mixer miguel migs goes for broke and pumps up the volume. There are some absolutely electric tracks on this double disc, in particular the remedy, one two one two, waiting, don't change, the bounce, making moves and bump selecta. Make plenty of room in your collection for some big sounds

Flashy Funkiness,

For the amateurs of groove and hip, this CD sure would have a place on your shelves.
In CD1 the rhythm attacks right then, with a typical Migs bass i.e. sexy sultry and immediately comfortable ("Drop the funk" gets you moving). Fresh keyboards, Miles type trumpet, you're ready to roll. The swing increases as "Waiting" balances sexy female vocals and binary rhythms. "One two one" is a sort of oddity in this CD, it would maybe belong in the end, it has a tougher feel. "Give it up" is funky and quirky with 80's like vocals. "Divided united" is swinging and jazzy and has you back on a soulful trip as the next two, typical Migs again. "Get back" is so amazing it's too much Yang for your groove, it takes you back to the real funky, playful and gimmicky sounds of the late 70's...pure delight. "You can't stop" is the other highlight I believe which has a great disco feel..it's still House though ! But it's very "clubby" and dancing with groovy keyboards and powerful dance like vocals. "Stereo Flavas" is a great organ paced soulful piece...The rhythm keeps on until the last hard house influenced drop... The second CD is a little different, the tracks aren't mixed. Every piece has a catchy house swing to it. It is a little more edgy than CD1 and certainly interesting for amateurs of House who wish to hear more of Migs' developments. These two CDs have a great balance and variety along with uniformity, which denotes that a connoisseur is indeed behind all this. And Migs is one of those...

Heaven's parties must sound like this!!!!,

This Cd is excellent, it's at least for me better than Nude Tempo. It make my feel always in a good mood, like full of parties round the corner. No matter the moment it is, every time i listen to it i wonder why i'm not drinking a Martini, trying to seduce a beatifull woman, it's a wave that penetrate in your brain an make you feel like Don Juan de Marco. The winner in you is back and wants to party a lot, let me tell you. You can smell San Francisco and Miami on the air, that breeze, the mood, so cool!!!. But carefull!, you can listen meanwhile you driving, working, studyng, on a date or whatever, but always with style and class, that is Miguel Migs about "Style", if you have it go for it!!!!
Cheers, for you Miguel, keep spinning!

Miguel does it again,

Those of you who love house music...especially deep house, this is a must have for your collection. I started listening to house music a couple years ago. I first started listening to trance and jungle, but then house music just got to me. When I first heard that song, "Soul to let go" by sir piers on one of Mig's mixed cd, that's when i fell in love with house. This cd is very soulful and sexy. It's something you would play if you had a little get together or a social gathering. The first half of the first CD is just amazing...especially the first 5 tracks...very groovy and makes you want to hit the dance floor and bust a move...the latter part of the mix settles down n gives you a more calm and chilled out feeling, lots of vocals. Mig's music is simply amazing and is the essence of 'cool.' I also own his cd from In The House, i can't say that it was a bad cd, it had some great tracks. But this CD definitely shows you his talent.
