This is a great little CD burner/DVD watcher. It's compact, installed quickly by itself (no driver needed, although it comes with one), and works great with my Asus EEE PC Netbook (XP). I installed Nero 7 essentials with it and it burned a CD perfectly the first time I tried it. Watching DVD's works great too--very clear picture! I highly recommend this drive for someone looking for a small portable CD writer. Note: this drive does not burn DVD's.

Hi, I had problems with both my PC's dvd-drive, laptop and desktop. My desktop I had to get a new one put in, then on my vaio laptop I had trouple with the new dvd-Rom and instead of buying another(I lost the receipt) I bought this excellent external DVD-ROM! If my desk top driver messes up I can use this, or I can just plug it into my laptop if I need to. I didn't have to "install' with vista, just plug in and play. I may have to run the installation disk for my Windows 98 I believe.
I highly recommend all PC owners have a spare external DVD-ROM like this one. And for the price, around $45, this seemed to be my best option on Amazon. Works great and is very affordable!!

I was pleasantly surprised how well this drive works on my windows 2000 IBM pc my 7 year old inherited. Plug and Play, enough said!

I was dreading the installation, it was a breeze!
My only concern now is the durability in the hands of a 7 year old.
I will have to re-review in 6 months or so.

Pros--- Small--Light Weight --Just Plug And Play. The picture is great on both my MSI Mini and my wife's Acer Mini. Seems fairly well made . Should last for a long while ?? The only thing I would like to see , is a longer connection cord.

Great periphery. Does what it says will do without temper tantrums. Great price as well. Quality and value...great combination. You can EASILY pay three times as much for this item almost anywhere...on the net as well!

Short version: this external drive was easy to install and works well so far with Vista. Important to note that the instructions are minimal, and this does not write to DVD's. It does everything it promised to do, so I'm very pleased with it.

At first, I was unsure because there was a mini-CD drivers disk with a Nero demo, and half the instructions were in Chinese. I installed the software and couldn't get it to work. After I smacked my head and figured it was plug and play, I uninstalled the software. I ran a virus check for good measure and rebooted the PC it was smooth copying from then on.

If your looking for a slim device powered by USB with another USB cable for data. A device that also plays CDs and DVDs, then look no further!!! This is for you. I know what your thinking, with all this enthusiasm I must be a plant, a mole, for the company that makes these. On the contrary, I am a public school teacher and work for a whole different concern.

So, wonderful drive, bought it for my Netbook for traveling to Vietnam and Cambodia and it worked equally well in both countries.

This drive works with Windows 7. The documentation that comes with the unit is lacking. Just make sure the disk that comes with the unit is installed when you plug the unit into your computer. It will automatically load the driver. The disk also has some other software on it. I chose not to install it. The files and manual have a lot of Asian writing. I was able to play a burned DVD with success the first try.

So when I popped my first cd in this drive - I was stoked. It ran great and was very quick. I'm converting all of my cd's to digital files. I have a lot. Within a few weeks though, the drive no longer recognizes a disc in it. Also, it won't read any cdr's with paper labels on them. Which is admittedly few in my collection, but there just the same. And limiting. So overall, the product started strong but is now disappointing and I'm not sure why it's failing.
