Kenny Scharf is an American painter who is internationally recognized for his exuberantly colorful paintings that reference the animated cartoons of his childhood, science fiction and graffiti. A wide-ranging artist whose work includes painting, sculpture and performance, Scharf recently completed a large scale mural on Houston Street in New York City on a site first treated by his friend Keith Haring. Scharf has exhibited around the world and was included in the 1985 Whitney Biennale. With his comic, pop-y images he aims to connect to popular culture and bring creativity into everyday life.
The title of this painting pretty much describes the painting and what it is about. As a child I dreamed of space travel and have been super obsessed with outer space my entire life. The concept of the cosmos fills me with awe and inspires me to think about the boundlessness and infinite worlds that lie beyond our world. This piece is a limited edition of 50.
