Usually these sort of posters take home truths that were expounded on a TV or movie series that can truly be applied to real life. Unfortunately the designers of this poster either failed to understand that or really do not know Dr. Who and just tried to grab a few lines from the most recent adventures to jump on the merchandizing opportunity.

Examples from the poster are "Time Lords have 12 lives" "Sontarans have a weak point at the back of their necks" "Daleks are made to exterminate" or "Beware the words Bad Wolf." A few lines such as "be suspicious if a planet goes missing" or "Humans will always survive" are applicable but in all honesty the junk far outweighs the good stuff.

For those who do not know, Dr Who is a British sci fi series that covers the adventures of a time travelling alien with a fondness for Earth. It ran originally from 1963 to 1989 and was brought back in 2005 and is still in production. That's about 30 years of script flying about with lots of ideas and yet the poster only draws from the most recent adventures and the lines are, for the most part, lessons that only apply if you are Dr. Who. They do not apply to the real world.

Things which occurred to me from the series that would be far more applicable might be:
"If people see you mean them no harm, they never ever hurt you, 9 times out of 10."
"An apple a day...ah, never mind."
"For the sake of your health I recommend a brisk jog."
"Who says you're not important?"
"If I knew I wouldn't have to ask. Don't be obtuse man."
"I'm full of ideas."
"Impregnable sounds too much like unsinkable, and we all know how that turned out for the Titanic."

To misquote Cyrano, all these he could have said, but didn't. The writer had a chance to show he was a man of wit and letters. Instead we see no wit and the only letters after his name are A-S-S. Before I bought this I tried to enlarge the image to get an idea of what the sayings were but the resolution broke down. Had I been able to read some of the lines, and seen what poor quality it was, I would not have wasted my money. Learn from my mistake. This is the worst sort of fan boy junk. If you're over 10 years old, skip this.

3.0 out of 5 stars Misprint!, February 19, 2010
This review is from: (24x36) Doctor Who (Everything I Know in Life) TV Poster Print (Kitchen)
There's actually a misprint on this poster. The line about upward rain reads: "upward rain means that you could about to take an unplanned trip." Where's the word "be"? "...could be about to take an unplanned trip." I wouldn't buy this poster unless they fix the mistake.

2.0 out of 5 stars What idiot proofread this?, August 28, 2010

Initially, I was absolutely delighted to receive my Dr. Who poster! It was my plan to post it in a place of honor, where all visitors to my home could see it. To my horror, it contained multiple errors, including a missing word, an apostrophe where it should not be & no apostrophe where one was needed, and an almost total lack of commas.

The following sentence really drove me crazy: A SONTARANS WEAK POINT IS ON THE BACK OF IT'S NECK. Perhaps I should appreciate that the author TRIED to put an apostrophe SOMEWHERE. But the sentence should read: A SONTARAN'S WEAK POINT IS THE BACK OF ITS NECK. I was able to black out the inappropriate apostrophe, and I will draw one in where it is needed. Having paid for this, however, I found that rather annoying.

Then there was this: UPWARD RAIN MEANS THAT YOU COULD ABOUT TO TAKE AN UNPLANNED JOURNEY. No doubt, it meant to say that you could BE about to take that journey.

When it said: BEWARE OF THE WORDS BAD WOLF, it would be great if, instead it said: BEWARE OF THE WORDS "BAD WOLF." The quotes would have set apart the critical phrase.

Overall, the artwork is attractive, and I am still happy to have the visual reminder of the Tenth Doctor. But I hung it in a bathroom.

I regretted buying what I thought would be a great addition to a Doctor Who collection. It was a sad mess with misspelled words and bad grammar.

2.0 out of 5 stars So many grammar errors!, March 20, 2010
This review is from: (24x36) Doctor Who (Everything I Know in Life) TV Poster Print (Kitchen)
There are actually two errors. The upward rain one as noted before me, and "Blue boxes can look smaller from the outside than they are from the inside." Should be DO from the the inside or are ON the inside. Both irk me. Would not buy.

2.0 out of 5 stars typo, April 28, 2010
This review is from: (24x36) Doctor Who (Everything I Know in Life) TV Poster Print (Kitchen)
anyone else notice the "Sontaran" typos too? Says "it's" instead of "its". ((shakes head)) No, these things are usually fun cos you can use the knowledge in real life. I don't see how a Time Lord regenerating 12 times impacts my life in anyway. Other than the fact that we're already on 10 times in the series.

3.0 out of 5 stars What I learned from Dr Who Poster, May 27, 2010

This review is from: (24x36) Doctor Who (Everything I Know in Life) TV Poster Print (Kitchen)
While this is fun, there are several things I wish were on here, like, "Stay out of the shadows" or "Back of the neck." The grammar was also wrong, so I actually had to take a white gel pen to it to fix the punctuation and wording before I could hang it in my classroom. It's bad form if the English teacher hangs something with errors on it....

2.0 out of 5 stars Doctor Who Poster, July 18, 2010

Lets start off with Im a HUGE fan of the Doctor. I dont have lots of money so I try to find a bargin when adding to my budding collection. When I got the poster I was disappointed. It was folded and not rolled and crinkly. It looks worn in spots and if my son hadnt seen it <he loves Who too> I would have sent it back. Sure it was only 3 bucks, however the shipping was more than double that, which is silly the box weighed more than poster. I have tried to get the lines out but to no avail.
