Adele transcends her previous albums and holds true to her incredible talent. After waiting 4 ½ years for a follow up to her sophomore album we finally get to hear what she’s had in store for us and the wait is well worth it. Her heart has mended and has grown even larger with the addition to her family. You can feel the love in her songs. I read in her Rolling Stone interview that she wrote a bunch of ‘motherly’ songs that but they dumped them, even so, you c an tell that there was something amazing Adele went through since her last album (even if the songs aren’t ‘motherly’).

There are 11 gorgeous songs on this album and as fabulous as each song is on its own they form a really cohesive album. Here is my breakdown of the individual songs:

1. Hello: This song is her first release and it was just what we needed to get our toes wet again with the lovely sound of Adele. I’ve listened to this a thousand times (pun intended) and it feels to me that she is trying to ring up her old self to let her know that’s its all good. Life has moved on from the old flame and she is fine. She has risen above the heartbreak.

2. Send My Love (to your new lover): This starts with a lovely bit of just guitar and Adele with some beautiful humming then it moves on becomes really catchy, like really catchy. It kind of reminds me a bit of a couple of Lily Allen’s songs. Fun, upbeat and you just want to bounce a bit and sing along. This will be a big hit for the youtube car sing-alongs. I found myself snapping my fingers to this a lot. She’s telling her ex to send some love to his new lover and telling him to treat his new lover better.

3. I Miss You: This has an incredible drum beat that makes me wanna break into some modern dance.

I fell in love with Adele in a bar in the middle of winter in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan when she release her first album (19). I waited for her sophomore album of 21 and then I knew she would be one of the artist that I would follow my whole life. Waiting for the current album was painful but I knew that she would not disappoint. I am a true audiophile and I buy my music on vinyl when available but enjoy the ability of MP3s for the car and beach - and Amazon gives you the "auto rip" when you buy vinyl so it is a win-win situation.

Now lets talk about 25! As in the past Adele has a smoky richness to her voice that just takes you to places far away and paints beautiful images in your mind. You want more when the song ends but then the next one begins and takes you on a different journey. She complexity that is so simple (I know you will understand what I mean by that once you hear this album) and begs to be played over and over.

With this third album she has earned the right to be a ONE name artist (just Adele).

A little about my setup. I play my vinyl on a Audio-Technica AT-LP120-USB Direct-Drive Professional Turntable in Silver. I have it setup with a Bluetooth 4.0 transmitter that is received by my Bose SoundLink Mini Bluetooth Speaker II (Carbon). Please - no hate mail and I understand I lose some of the greatness of vinyl by converting it to digital but it is a setup so I can move the speaker around the house and not connected to a wired system.

I stopped buying CDs long ago, but broke the streak picking up Adele's 25 the other day. Feels good to pop the disc in and enjoy the experience. What I'd really like is to play this album on vinyl to hear what that's like, but I digress.

I've read that Adele had writer's block in the early going for this album. Imagine what 25 might be if she had been able to pour everything out from the get-go...

Yes, "Hello" is huge right now and is definitely a powerful opener to the album. But the whole thing is great. Apparently Adele did the drums on this song, and I didn't know she played those. So that's a fun fact.

The first three songs on 25 are my favorites and it's tough for me not to repeat these tracks. But the more I listen to the entire album the more my mind begins to change. Following the opener is "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)," which is upbeat, catchy, and in my opinion, the only song that's borderline pop. I think it's a crowd-pleaser. The third track, "I Miss You," is seductive ("Pull me in/Hold me tight/Don't let go") and emotional. I really like the chorus.

Adele is on top of the world with this release and I'm looking forward to the next one... 28? 29?

This album has been a long time in the works. Adele made several attempts over the years but either didn't like what she then came up with or just couldn't get beyond the "writer's block" that had been stumping her over many tries. She even thought about giving up on music altogether, thinking that there was no way that she could come up with something that could match what she had done on "21". Eventually, the ideas came flooding in & she ended up having a hand, with other writers too, in writing every track on "25". What a satisfying collection of songs it is too. Some have complained that maybe she wasn't adventurous enough in expanding her sound more. No, there is no Hip Hop or Rap here! There is no hard Rock or Country either! And forget about Polka or Island Belly Dancing Music! They got left behind too! What you "WILL" find are good songs that are done in a style that you are more or less use to hearing ADELE sing in. She does give us some change of pace in the songs. Many are piano driven ballads that she is known for. And then there are the mid-tempo numbers that she does well at too.
" WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE" is an excellent mid-tempo tune that has great potential to be a big hit if released as a single at some point."SEND MY LOVE(TO YOUR NEW LOVER)" the Max Martin co-write, is another possible future mid-tempo hit. There are several big ballads. We probably don't need to say much about the huge mega hit, "HELLO". A lot has been said & written about all the records that song has broken! Two of my favorite songs are the big ballads: "LOVE IN THE DARK" & "ALL I ASK". They're both beautiful, gorgeous & melodious, emotionally stirring songs. "MILLION YEARS AGO", another ballad, is calm & soothing.
