This review is from: 25 All-Time Rock Bass Classics: Bass Recorded Versions (Paperback)
The Hal Leonard series of transcribed bass parts is just an outstanding resource for the (fretted) electric bass player wanting to play a variety of well known popular songs. The bassists (plural) in our house use these books constantly because they're so accurate and easy to read with both notation and TAB. I recommend the entire series for any bassist. However, these are not really beginner books. They contain transciptions of the bass lines played by the pros, and the beginner will find them overwhelming. If you have some experience (especially with both reading and playing TAB) you will love this book. Having said that, some of the songs are useful for the newer bass player with guidance of a teacher/experienced family member or friend. If you want to learn some awesome classic bass parts, buy this book. You will not be disappointed.
