4.0 out of 5 stars A good game that got a lot of bad controversial publicity.
Seeing all the bad reviews I have to ask myself did anyone actually play through this game. I decided to get this game because I was one of the original beta testers for the online portion of this game. I really had a blast with this game online, it was a lot of fun. However online wasn't as great as playing the Socom games online but it was up there. I did wait till this...

2.0 out of 5 stars It's So/So Defiinitely Does NOT Live Up to The Hype
First off, all the people that have tried to ban this game, and others like it, without even seeing it, or playing it, this is just an example of how ignorant you are. You base your actions upon what you hear and read about a product, without ever bothering to try the actual prodcut. Shame on you. First off, all the people that have tried to ban this game, and others like it, without even seeing it, or playing it, this is just an example of how ignorant you are. You base your actions upon what you hear and read about a product, without ever bothering to try the actual prodcut. Shame on you. And, all you're doing, in the end, is generating more sales for bad games, if they are bad. The best way to stop bad products is no one buy them!

Now, with the rant out of the way, on to the game review--it's not that great. Many of us "GTA Type Game" fans waited more than two years for this, being led to believe it would be similar, that is, "open ended" with a variety of things to do and freedom to explore a virtual world. Would you escape the ghetto and get revenge on your family's killers are "Freeze," or clean up the city and save lives as a cop?

The actual game is nothing more than a linear first person shooter where you have to kill several enemies per level before they kill you. The AI is horrible. You have no choices. You can't drive anywhere. You have to hit enemies like 5 headshots to kill them; usually before you can do that youre dead (because even from a mile away they can hit you with accuracy). it sucks. Don't waste your money.

The best game in my opionion so far is Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. For those of you who whine about how "Bad and violent" it is, that part is up to the player. If you want, you can stay in Los Santos for months, not kill a single person, and make millions of dollars betting at the OTB and driving the taxi, buying all the safehouses, working out at the gym, etc. And not kill one person, if you don't want to. So, I say again, try products for yourself before you try to ban them. it's part of being a grown up. But you'll never undertand. Peace

1.0 out of 5 stars This game should be locked up for life., March 4, 2006

Truthfully I can't believe that I paid for this game, when i saw it in the store i thought it would be pretty sweet, ya know reading that back of the case and looking at the pictures, but obviously whats on the case doesn't well describe what actually happens. There's really no point to the game, every level is pretty much the same just with different people and slightly different weapons. The incentive for finishing the game is some retarded survival level. The only thing that i found interesting about the game is that you can take hostages and peoples heads literally get blown off when shot the right way. I would recommend anyone looking to buy this game wait until it is a Greatest Hits (I doubt) or buy it used.

2.0 out of 5 stars So much shooting...it gets old., March 16, 2006

This game, overall isn't half bad. It has some what of a story line and quite a few levels. However I am too used to the free roam of some other shooting games, where as in this game you have a set path with barriers (usually buildings) on both sides of you that keep you going in one direction. Also there isnt much of stealth in this game, its basically run and shoot. The guns all seem to work some what the same as eachother and aren't very impressive in my opinion. The game was just a little too repetative for my taste. If you are a big fan of shooting games like me, you probably aren't going to be impressed by this game...at all.

1.0 out of 5 stars Generic in a boring way, May 26, 2006

I used to wonder how people could be so far off base when it comes to developing these games especially considering that this game was developed in Utah. Now you and I both know that when it comes to urban culture and all things street you need look no further than the UT for your definitive source, but that still doesn't explain the lacklustre graphics and clunky mechanics and poor coordination since we all know that Utah is home to the best artists and athletes around I mean just look at the Jazz. Yes, I am Utah bashing, yes I am from Utah, that is why I find it hilariously sad that these developers chose to make a game about urban gang-warfare and street culture. Stick to what you know, make a game about scrapbooking and holding hands it couldn't possiblly suck as bad as this.

I did wait till this game went greatest hits before buying it though, only because I wasn't sure about the offline part of the game. Surprisingly the offline was pretty good too. I played this game through in my free time within two weeks, and I got pretty hooked on it too. The graphics are pretty good in my opinion. It's funny when I think of this game I don't remember the graphics being that great. But then I think what was that game that I really liked where I was sneaking around a shopping mall and hiding behind clothes racks dodging people that were shooting at me, that game was awesome. Then I realize it was this game 25 to Life. There was a sense of realism to this game when blasting away at everything. From blasting peoples heads off to shooting walls, or shooting out windows. Each weapon had a different effect too. The audio sounded pretty good, from breaking windows, shooting and reloading your guns, and moltov cocktails exploding. The voices were ok, mostly gangsta from the hood. The only thing bad about it was there was a lot of cursing. But the cursing was something that really went well with the gangsta enviroment of the game. The same with the music tracks on the game they went well with the gansta enviroment as well. That being said, some of the songs in this game had a lot more cursing in them then just what the computer opponents yelled out. One song had the f-word multiple times, which really made me wish I could have been able to turn it off. It would have been nice if you could have picked the songs you would like to hear because not all the songs had cursing in them. Most the time from the computer opponents you would hear just the s-word. This game also has a lot of extra side quests you can do while blasting away at the computer opponents. Upon completeing them you can unlock extra characters, and weapons to use in the online mode, much like Socom. This game is good for a once through offline. Online it was pretty fun till people started using cheats and ruined the game. Don't know if the servers are even up anymore. It has a good replay value especially if you didn't finish all the side quests first time around. The cool part is when you finish an area you can go back and play it all over again so you can finish the side quest objectives you might have missed the first time around. And when you have done all that you can try and play through the harder modes for more of a challenge. Although normal mode seemed pretty intense on its own. And after you beat the game you unlock this parking garage challenge area that was very hard to beat. But after finishing all of these things in the game, I did feel a sense of accomplishment, and I was glad it was all over with do to its intensity. That being said I really think this game is worth a play through, and maybe I will play through it again some time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Never buy this game, November 26, 2006

I bought this Game about a month ago and was so happy to receive it in the mail. I put the game in PS2 and it was terrible. The Blood&Gore mode is so unrealistic. The game it's self is unrealistic. You never get to drive a car yourself in this game and the story to the game is not good. I bought this thinking it would be like the Grandtheft Auto series, NOTHING LIKE IT. Save your money and get San Andreas or Vice City Stories if you want to be Happy. Whoever thinks this game is good does not enjoy realistic games.

this game is a real insult to gta (grand theft auto).the grafics are horible the gameplay is crap. have you seen the ai? they must have dropped out of special ed class in elementry. they shoot eachother and set themselves on fire. the game just plain sucks. oh did i mention sterio types? a bunch of white wanabe rapper develapers try to act like they know street lingo which they don't. the game is just full of bing bling,f words and poor voice acting. for example:you better get flowers and a funeral because im comming. what the hell was that? you call that voice acting? well the point is don't buy it or rent it. do yourself a fave and buy a gta game. trust me you will thank yourself.

This review is from: 25 to Life (Video Game)
25 to Life is a real crappy game when you play the regular missions. But when you play online, it's all different. When you play the regular game, you start out as Freeze. You must sneak out of this warehouse and kill all the police. Then the police are look for you, and you must sneak to your apartment. (That's how far I got in the mission). But then online. Oh My GOD!! you can make your own gang with it's own name and colors, join other people's gangs, battle other gangs, and talk to other gamers online(its better when you have a headset), customize your own people, and just do everything you can't do in the regular game. I'd recommend to only get this game if you have online, because that's the only fun you'll have with it is when you do so. And also, the bonus soundtrack that comes with it has blazin tracks from Geto Boys, 2pac, DMX, and many others. It's a good game and CD. I think it's worth 19.99(plus tax).
