I ordered this game because it sounded interesting, even though I never played the internet version of it. It's a fun game where you get to find out things about your fellow players, but it's rather long and drawn out. I made a rule to speed up the game. Depeding on how many are playing (up to six) if you match three or more players, you can check off a line on your sheet. Also, there's no way to verify if someone is lying, which means someone can just say yes to every question posed just to win the game.

Great fun finding out random, kooky things about your friends.
Fun for parties. Hilarius take on the FACEBOOK craze to play off-line, all my friends seem to love playing it!

To start, I had never heard of this game before my friend got it, nor had I heard about the Internet version. The concept sounds fun and good, I always enjoy games where you learn about your friends and their opinions so the concept of the game sounded really good. However when I opened it up and started reading the rules, it seemed a little confusing. Not confusing as hard to understand how to play, but confusing as in why do the rules work this way? For example If I were to guess that someone said yes to something, it says I get a bonus fact for my list. However, there is no penalty for me if I get it wrong or no reward for me if they say no and I guess no for them. So there is no motivation for me not to just guess they'll say yes everytime.
And also if they say yes to something and I guess they say yes they get a point for saying yes as well. So there is no reason for them to be honest if their answer is no. I went back and reread the rules a few times to try to see if I misread them but I don't think I did. Sure it's not about winning and it's about learning about friends, but without motivation to be honest and tell the truth the game fails. The rules could easily be changed to fix this problem though and me and my friends changed around the rules a bit but we were tired so they made a little more sense but we shouldn't have to change the rules for the game to work. We ended up getting bored of it and just going around the circle answering yes or no to the cards. Good concept but it seems as if they didn't bother to playtest this game at all. Some revision and reworking of the rules and this game has the potential of 4 stars. |
