Good for the novice,

The recordings on this disc are pretty good. However, the editors selected only the *loud* parts, as indicated by the title. I was pretty disappointed to find that the pieces are, in many cases, edited to reflect the most famous themes, etc, instead of including the whole work. In general, I would recommend this to the classical music novice, or someone who wants to expand their knowledge of classical music in general. Those who already are familiar with these pieces will probably feel gypped.

Short and Sweet,

This is the best collection of moving classics on one CD that I have ever seen. The only drawback is that 25 pieces in 75 minutes means each piece averages 3 minutes. However, I prefer that to less pieces.

I had purchased an abundance of the "Favorites" collection and some were better than others. This CD is at the top of them all. They may be short, but not that short. Wondrous music. I can almost guarantee that you will like this music.

I bought this CD to use in my classroom as listening examples. I'm not just a super big fan of some of the performances, but they are all good and for the price you can't beat it. That's why I gave it 5 stars. It's worth more than it costs by far.

This is a who's-who of great pieces of music you have heard all of your life, and never knew the names and stories! I listened to it over and over in the car and had my own concert! A friend borrowed it to add music to his Home Movies and it was perfect!

Absolutely something for everybody!,

I bought my first copy of this because it had the William Tell Overture, the 1812 Overture, and Ride of the Valkyries. We are raising 4 kids and live in a rural area, and I've found that there are fewer fights while in the car if we have engaging music playing... LOUDLY. I'm not a big fan of 'their' music, so I like finding music we both identify with. ("Hey! I know that one! It was on Bugs Bunny!" or "Hey! It's the Olympics!")
It actually became so popular with the kids that they wanted to borrow it to play in their rooms, so I gave them each a copy for Christmas. You certainly can't beat the price, and it's great music to clean your room to. What surprised me the most were the songs that each one of them identified with the most. The boy that I thought would argue for #2 (Mars), sat in the car while I was in the grocery store playing #13 (Romeo and Juliet) over and over. We went through the car wash last weekend, and I did not have the disk with me. It was just not as fun. And I don't think the car got as clean, either.

These works are all very beautiful and energizing, however I would have preferred to have the whole song of each work on the CD. Instead they took the most robust part of each piece and played it for three minutes. For me, it detracts from the beauty or energy of the song, but for others who may not want to listen to the whole song, it is very well put together.

Excellent Compilation and Good Value,

While 25 Thunderous Classics gives only a brief overview of various pieces of music one could consider 'thunderous,' it is an excellent value and introduction to the style of music.
Many of the songs are instantly recognizable, and this is good for someone who may only dabble or be new to classical music. Really, I think the only downside is that it only plays the 'thunderous' part of the song rather than the entire work. However, I would still highly recommend this compact disc.

ALTHOUGH THIS CD IS LIMITED IN ITS SCOPE THE SOUND IS EXCELLENT.THIS IS NOT A COMPREHENSIVE STUDY AND COMPLETE VERSION OF EACH PIECE BUT MERELY A HIGHLIGHT TEASER WHICH MAKES YOU WANT TO HEAR MORE .EACH IS COMPLETE ENOUGH TO BE A TREAT IN ITSELF,ESPECIALLY IN A VEHICLE TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD.
