Practical Application, Short Chapters, Solid Principles,
By
This review is from: 25 Ways to Win with People: How to Make Others Feel Like a Million Bucks (Hardcover)
Many reviewers said that this book is "fluffy" or that Perrott gives too much "Maxwell-worship" throughout the book. This may be true, but I actually enjoyed reading about all of the ways that Maxwell has practically shown these concepts in action. I enjoyed the short chapters that tackle simple concepts one-at-a-time. I read this book with my wife and we were able to discuss each chapter together due to the thought-provoking applications suggested at the end of each chapter.
Applying the 25 concepts in this book requires more than reading this book, they are an art (but then again, so are all social skills). This book is a great introduction to some principles that should be common-sense, but in today's self-gratifying culture, it is refreshing to read about the art of focusing on others. I recommend this book to anyone who works with people, lives with people, or converses with people.

"Winning With People" was one of the best books I have ever read, so I was thrilled to see a book based on it that was supposed to be more specific.
"25 Ways To Win With People" is broken into 25 pieces of advice to "Win With People". Each chapter is short, easy to read and contains lots of interesting stories about either John Maxwell or other significant people. However, I was really hoping for a book that would go into specifics on particular techniques to win with people. For example, the chapter "Write Notes Of Encouragement", I would have liked to have seen a list of different ways to encourage people via notes. I think that giving a list of examples would allow for better retention of the information, and would allow the reader a better starting point for brainstorming new ideas. Regardless, "25 Ways To Win With People" is still a great book to pick up on relationships. I recommend it as well as the companion book "Winning With People". 4 out of 5 stars.

This is my very first book review but I feel very strongly about this book. Anyone that has any interaction with people needs this book! I wish that I would have read it in college! This book is filled with very simple, common sense but yet sincere ways to make people feel good(about you)! It's a tough world but it can be made a little easier if you follow these simple techniques. Just pick one technique a day, give it a try, and see how much fun it is!

This is the type of tool you will want to pop in your car cd player and listen to from time to time. It's packed with great tips for relational intelligence building. I think it's perfect for a busy leader/manager who knows he/she needs to grow in the way they communicate with people and yearns to excell.
As a Dad I have been using it to also teach my kids skills so our family environment is impacted by this tool as well.

Good advice,

I used to be bad with people and studied the heck out of books like "How to Win Friends and Influence People." There's solid advice in this book, but I too would have liked more practical step by step advice. For instance, I'm bad at keeping track of what my subordinates' special strengths are. I would have liked more advice on what to look or listen for.

Awesome little book on winning with people,

While a lot of the "tips" this book gives are really common sense, it's something that not everyone thinks about. What this little book manages to do is present 25 ways to win people in an easy to read and follow format which you can instantly start applying to your everyday life. One of the ways to win people over is to write them a personal note and the first thing I did after reading that chapter was to put the book down and write my wife a note letting her know how much I appreciate and love her. If you're like me you will not be able to put this book down for long until you completely finish reading it.

This audio is best used along with the book, "Winning With People". My opinion is that nobody can ever be truly successful if they don't "win with people". I highly recommend this audio along with the book to everyone. It has wisely been refered to as the "HOW TO WIN FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE" of the 21st century and having studied both, I agree with that assesment.

I have enjoyed the book so far and have found many things I wasn't doing. With that being said, I felt that the chapters were very scattered. It seems like they had a good thought, but it isn't clearly written.
I have read many of John's books and this one doesn't have his usual flow. It seems that his co-author did the majority of the writing and John just added a blurb in at the end of the chapter. I enjoyed John Maxwell's leadership books better.

Very well compiled and is a wonderful addition to the late Mr. Dale Carnegie's classic How to Win Friends and Influence People. Both Carnegie and Maxwell draw the most practical knowledge available to mankind from a inspired source that is instilled in all of us. It's about time Christians stopped ranting and raving about sin and damnation and teach the world practical knowledge from the written Word. This is a must read if your a fan of Dale Carnegie!
