Product Description

Keep your valuable tools in peak condition! Choose from 250/1000 (Rockler #20549), 800/4000 (Rockler #20542), and 1000/6000 (Rockler #47506) combination stones. Waterstone Holder sold separately (shown on left, Rockler #47530). For preliminary sharpening where chips exist or bevel angle need to be changed, use the 250/1000 waterstone. To remove smaller nicks and do a finish sharpening of woodworking chisels and other tools, the 800/4000 combination is the best choice. Finally, use the 1000/6000 waterstone for creating a polished edge. The Nagura Stone (shown on right, sold separately, Rockler #47522 ) forms a paste on finer grit Waterstones to speed and enhance polishing. Use with the 6000 grit stone.

I have been a carpenter for almost 12 years. The first 6 years were mainly rough carpentry and my stone of choice was an oil stone. I have since moved on to finish carpentry and woodworking. Razor sharp chisels and planes are a must now! And this combination stone, along with a 1000-6000 grit waterstone, produce mirror sharp edges that last a long time. And, unlike an oil stone, waterstones can be honed flat again and cut the metal much faster. And you don't have to worry about the stone cloging.

I've had my trusty chef's knife for over 12 years and had never had it sharpened. I was considering taking it to a professional when I watched a video on the Rouxbe.com cooking school that gives full instructions on how to sharpen your own knives at home. It seemed completely do-able. This whetstone was a little cheaper than the price I was quoted for sharpening JUST my chef's knife and now I have a house full of properly sharpened knives and a wonderful sense of accomplishment and frugality. I don't know why everyone doesn't do this, it was so simple!

Well the product is exactly what you expect-a high quality stone for high end blades. I used it for basic sharpening of my straight razor. But what was truly remarkable was that the order arrived at my house a day and a half after I placed the order-and I chose the standard 3-5 day. Sooooo good job, easy to use, and great seller.

it took some time to get use to and properly be able to sharpen my knives. I wish it would have said which side was what grip, but it didn't and i had to do some research for it. green is 250 grit and yellow is 1000 grit. besides that i love making my knives razor sharp with this stone!

Does the job for which I purchased it.
However, for best sharping results, you need to use in conjunction with other stones.
