I had an old XBox 360 Arcade (I added a hard drive) that was dying and I needed to evac the hard drive into a new system. So I bought an XBox E 4GB that fit these type of enclosures. I didn't read any stories of other people actually doing this so it was a bit of a gamble. I pulled the grey plastic header off my old XBox, popped a few plastic tabs, removed a couple of screws and easily got access to the old hard drive. I then put the hard drive into this new case and it fits snug and secure, no screws needed. I then slid this case into the new XBox and it clicked happily in place.

I fired up the new XBox and it recognized the new hard drive immediately. No setup or tinkering with options required. I did discover after the fact that my XBox Live profile was stored on the old system's memory card. So I had to fire up the old machine again and copy it to a USB stick. After that, my new XBox was up and running smoothly. Just a tip before disassembling your old machine!

As other reviewers have mentioned the plastic drive case is a bit on the flimsy side. But if you're more delicate than your average chimpanzee, you should be fine. Once it's installed it doesn't move one bit.

Local Game Stop did not have the case (I am not sure if they carry cases, but they did have cases with the hard drive) and they wanted to pre order it for Friday, but I said no because I knew that I can get a better deal on Amazon and receive it Tuesday. I took out the 120 GB hard drive from the Xbox 360 elite system, and to do that all you need is couple screws undone and it can be placed in your Xbox 360 slim. I was eager to play games so I just inserted the hard drive into the slot without the case, however, I strongly don't recommend doing that.

The case got here, and I am amazed that for $8 this case is solid plastic and it does not look cheap. The case came open and was covered with foil on both sides to protect it. Make sure to take off the foil before doing anything outs. The 120 GB hard drive from the old xbox360 elite fits perfectly in the Xbox 360 slim. Just be careful when you close the case some snaps might not go in to its place and they do look like they are easy to brake with a harder push. After closing the case I have inserted the disk with the case into xbox360 slim and it fits perfectly.

I used this to put my old Xbox 360 hard drive from an original model, into a slim. Though this is perhaps a bit of an unorthodox way to use the drive, it nonetheless met my expectations and fit flawlessly. A great deal considering I got back all of my old saves and files with the drive transplant!

Works great, But I learned several things from buying this.

1. You can't just throw in any hard drive and have it work. First, the hard drive must be painstakingly formatted for Xbox on your WINDOWS COMPUTER. Second, The hard drive must be a Western Digital hard drive.
2. I suggest buying a pre formatted hard drive from another vendor on Amazon and skipping the troubles.
3. You can move your old 1st generation Xbox 360 Hard drive into this enclosure. No need to format, just the need to remove the Hard drive from the old shell and into this enclosure.

With Love,

-The dude who will be playing Destiny.

If you've bought a replacement Xbox 360 without a harddrive, here is your answer. Do not spend astronomical money on a HD from Micro$oft when there is a good one sitting in your broken xbox. This was incredibly simple to install and all my games, profile, etc. were right there when I fired up my new Xbox 360 e.

I've had my original 360 HDD dangling inside my slim just connected by the SATA for years, and finally got around to buying this. This case fits perfectly inside my 360 slim with the 2.5 inch SATA HDD inside it.

I bought a 4gb slim because my old white Xbox had enough. Took my 120 gb HD out of my old Xbox, snapped it in to the slim HD case. Took less than ten minutes and saved me a lot of money.

No, the device ordered : 120 GB did not replace the above items as needed and is required. Another order was made 2 days ago. Expectations ARE REQUIRED TO BE MET WHEN ORDERED.
