I've had several cheap-o telescoping magnetic tools over the years, and this is the first one that's actually worth the money. Unfortunately I paid more than what's listed here so this is an even better deal. It's a lot stronger than the product details advertise. If you've ever spilled a container of screws or washers in the grass or on a dirty floor then you know how much of a pain it is to try and pick it up. You can't use a dustpan because all the sand will end up in the container with the screws and picking up 20+ small washers is just sucks.

The last time that happened to me I used my old magnet tool alongside of this one. The old one picked up around five one-inch heavy duty machine screws and this one picked up about 15. The only problem I've noticed (and it's not even really a problem) is that sometimes it takes a little effort to pull a smaller part off of the end of the magnet. But that only happens if its a -very- small part and if you're wearing thicker gloves.

Overall, this thing is perfect. It has a nice solid weight and the telescope shafts are thick enough that you don't have to worry about bending it during general use, like if you're trying to weave it down the sides of an engine compartment. The rubber grip is easy to hold with or without gloves, it's very easy to wash off and the red coloring makes it easier to find in a cluttered toolbox.

If you don't have one of these in your tool set, get it here. I've not seen it cheaper anywhere else.

Works as advertised. if you work on your own car, its been great so far for picking up dropped bolts & screws and for the wrench that was left at the front of the car as well.

This is a strong magnet to pick up small metal parts where my fingers just can't reach. It is not going to pick up a big heavy wrench, but it is not designed to do that. Nuts, bolts, screws, ball bearings, and so on, it will grab 'em. The telescoping portion works very well also.

I would recommend this to have on the tool bench or just around the house.

I purchased this tool to assist with removing the bolts holding my in-car stereo into the dashboard. I didn't want the bolts to drop once loosened to the point where they would fall out. I was able to loosen the bolts with the socket wrench, then turn them the final 1/4 turn to remove them safely without dropping. Likewise when I went to re-install the bolts, the pickup tool held the bolt securely enough to insert it into the hole and get the bolt started. It's hard to tell from the pictures but the diameter of the magnet head is 5/8" and fully extended the tool is 33" long. Personally I think this tool does exactly what it was designed to do, and at a reasonable price.

I ordered this originally to grab the valve stem keepers when working on my 2000 Windstar. But naturally, in the course of working on other parts, I dropped a socket and a wrench into places hard to access with my hand. This tool had enough magnetism & reach to pick them up & retrieve them easily. This will be a welcome addition to my tool box.

While there is not a lot to this tool, the benefit of it is much greater than its size. It is small, but SOOO helpful when needing to pick up screws, nails, debris, etc. It is just so handy to have, period!

The only thing that isn't so great is that the base doesn't extend that easily. Otherwise, the strong magnet can pick up quite a lot of weight.
